We ate breakfast at our hotel. It was a little breakfast. Toast, cereal, juice and coffee, it was fine. After we drove 10 miles to the Marta Station at Dunnwoody Station were we left our car(free parking) and boarded the train toward downtown. We planned on going to the Ga. Aquarium and the World of Coke today. We exited the train at the Civic Center Station were there is a bus(Route 97 - Georgia Aquarium/Zoo Atlanta) that will take you to the Aquarium or you can walk its not to far and its a nice view of the city. We choose to use Marta because of parking spaces and parking prices($10-$15), and lots of construction everywhere. Marta was clean and very user friendly. We loved it. We got a 3 day pass for $11 a person. There's your parking money.
We choose to use the Atlanta City Pass . Only $69 for adults and $49 for kids and 6 attractions.
The Ga. Aquarium was packed. It took 45 minutes just to get in. Once inside it was wall to wall people. I enjoyed Tenn. Aquarium better. It took us about 3 hours once inside.
The World of Coke was great. Its all about the Coke but what did you want? We had a blast. At the end of the tour you got to choose your own bottle of coke off the line and there are over 60 types of coke to taste. We stayed about 2 hours.
We walked back to the Marta Station but on the way we found theMellow Mushroom Pizza . It was great.
We boarded the train but instead of going toward Dunnwoody Station we went all the way to the Airport and then turned around and headed toward the car. It was a busy day but we had a great time.
Wed was a pretty day so we headed back to the Marta Station and got off at the Art Center Station . Right across the street was theHigh Museum of Art . We spent about 2 and1/2 hours. We loved the soldiers. They would not allow pictures inside.
Next we walked to theAtlanta Botanical Gardens . It was a nice walk but about 1.2 miles. There is alot of constrution and hardly any parking there. The garden is the best. They have a cafe so have lunch there. We were there about 2 and 1/2 hours.
After the gardens we walked through Piedmont Park back to the Marta.
At the Marta Station we got on to go to the CNN and Centennial Olympic Park . We rode to theDome / GWCC / Philips Arena / CNN Center Station and CNN was right there. They do not allow pictures there but they have a gaint food court inside so everyone in the family will find something they like. We really enjoyed the tour it was great.
Centennial Olympic Park was nice. There was music and food and the fountain was pretty. I loved to watch the kids in the water. We just walked back to the Civic Center Station to catch the train back to the hotel.
This is our last day before we go home. So we go to the Zoo Atlanta and Atlanta Civic Center . At the Marta Station get off at the Civic Center Station and take the bus( 97) to the zoo. The zoo was wall to wall people. It was a nice zoo but I've seen better. Right next door to the zoo isAtlanta Cycolrama .. We did not go because I did not want to miss King Tut.
We rode the bus back to the Civic Center Station and walked to the Civic Center. It was a nice walk. Walking through Atlanta we always felt safe and were never bothered by anyone. KIng Tut was the bomb. We stayed about 2 and 1/2 hours. We were not allowed to take picture. I had to read and see everything. We had a great time. We walked back to the Marta station and rode the train to the hotel.
