New Journal Entry

So we are just over a month from leaving to Paris and Italy .  I for one can't wait.  My girlfriend and I have all our necessary travel documents, booked the flights, hotels, bought some museum passes.  For Paris , we got the three day Paris Visite Pass.  It includes admission to a number of museums and sites as well as a time for the Louvre admission. It also included a metro card and a trip down the Seine .  We will still have to pay for the Eiffel Tower and a few other sites, but nothing big. Our Hotel looks very nice and is in a great location within walking distance of the tower.  Venice should be a little more relaxing of a tour as we seem to have way too much to see in Paris than we can possibly accomplish in 3 days.  We are planned to stay in Venice for 2 days after an overnight train from Paris .  We then take another train to Florence for two days.  I am really looking forward to Florence .  Renaissance art and architecture is one of my favorite periods.  We then travel down to Rome for two more days before our departure back to Las Vegas .

Talk about this trip (10)
Sounds almost exactly like the trip I have planned for July (staying 2 nights in the French Riviera though). Let me know how the passes work out in Paris and Rome. What ones did you get and where did you get them? Thanks

I bought the Paris Visite Pass. I got it from paris.conciergerie.com. I got a combo package from them. It comes with a metro pass for three days, a pass to the Louvre, a trip on a seine river boat, and the museum pass for three days as well. I will try and keep our trip updated and post pictures as well. Thank you for your comments.

sounds like a great trip plan, please update with details. me and my husband are contemplating on doing the europe vacation on our own or just doing a completely guided tour. we would like to do it on our own but a bit concerned if we will be able to get around without trouble. we have done guided tours and although u do get to see alot, u waste alot of time doing things that you really wish wasn't part of the tour.

please let us know if you had any trouble with anything including language, public transportation, etc. thank you!

We stayed at the Hotel Eiffel Seine. It is perfectly located a 3 minute walk from the eiffel tower in front of the Bir-Hakeim metro stop.

HI! I just came across this site and am enjoying in greatly. I am going to London for 2 weeks to visit my husband's family and then 2 of my girlfriends are joining me and we are going to Italy for 3 weeks. We start with 4 nights in Venice, then take a train to Florence for 2 nights, then take a train to Rome for 3 nights. From Rome we are renting a car and will leisurely drive thru Tuscany staying in Siena, Lucca/Pisa and then ending up in Lirici at a gorgeous villa we found that overlooks the sea. Anyone know of any excellent tours in any of these areas??? What about good passes???

For the person looking ofr a good hotel in Paris I can offer one that we really loved. Not big or fancy but very nice, very wonderful staff, a great breakfast included and our room had a gorgeous up close view of the Eiffel Tower...............It is called Le Jardin d'Eiffel.
I highly recommend it!!! The prices were good too.

Enjoy_traveller: We got the passes from paris.conciergerie.com. The metro passes you can get are for a number of days of use. We got a three day metro pass with the package. You can get it from a number of websites just like the museum passes. You can just run a search for Metro passes and find sites that way. What it is, is a ticket that gets scanned as you enter the gates at each metro station. the pass we got was only good for zones 1-3. There are 6 zones. Zones 4-6 include the airport, Versailles and other outlanding areas of Paris. The museum passes are also good for a number of days depending on what you want. It is a card you show at each museum. The site we recieved our passes was a combo pass, meaning it already came with a ticket for the louvre to avoid going though the line to get the entrace ticket after you show them the pass, a metro pass, museum pass, and a cruise down the seine(didnt get a change to use). both passes metro and museum are a must in Paris. The passes cut down on time it take to wait to buy tickets and they will save you money if you go to a few places.
