7:00 AM Headed out from Little Rock, AR Tuesday morning.
We detoured over to Monroe, LA, to see a friend of his at University of Louisiana Monroe.
11:00 AM ate at a local Cajun restaurant called Boardreaux's. the food was great, but very greasy. I guess that is what Cajun food is though. I had a shrimp po-boy and crawfish etouffee, and Tim had Jambalaya.
6:00 PM Arrived in Gulf Shores, AL. It took us 30 minutes to find the hotel, it was listed on 3 different maps in three different places. Come to find out it was right in front of us the entire time. We weren't looking for something that obvious I guess. WEIRD!!
6:30 PM Check in... They didn't have a ground floor room available, but because they didn't have one they bumped us up to a kitchenette room, instead of a regular room, with no extra charge. That was very nice of her, there is at least a $20 difference between the two rooms. I am sure they don't want to lose business. The kitchenette room has a mini-fridge, and a kitchen sink, coffee maker, and stove. Surprisingly there is not a microwave, but we can manage. We can go to dollar tree and get some pans. :D
7:30 PM Found a nice local seafood restaurant called The Shrimp Basket. It was amazing food, For starters we had 1 dozen oysters which I have ever had before. 1/2 dozen oysters were covered in tomatoes and mozzarella cheese, and 1/2 dozen were 'fresh shucked,' whatever that means. By the way, oysters don't do anything for you, that is an old wives tail. I actually felt sleepy after eating. For entrees I had Crawfish Alfredo, and he had Fresh steamed shrimp. We received a "free gumbo" certificate when we checked into the hotel, so we cashed that in too.
8:30 PM We drove along the shore line looking at all the expensive condos built right on the beach front. All of the houses are built at least 12 feet above the ground level, which is about 10 feet above sea level. They are so beautiful! I hope to get some pictures of them tomorrow.
Tomorrow's Plans:
5:00 AM get up early to get a good parking place at the beach.
Walk around the town and the beach.
Make a trip to Wal-Mart, because we have a mini-fridge.
