Ah, the whole weekend, adults only

The trip was planned as an 'annual' get together with friends from Portland...sometimes we get together for New Years, Skiing, whatever and usually with all the kids.  This time we decided Vegas without kids was in order.

Our flight took off from SJC on Friday at 2:30p - we meet our friends at the airport and the flight on southwest was short, sweet and on time.  6 of us arrived from SJC and jumped into a limo and made our way to the MGM Grand Hotel.  We met up with the last couple at the hotel.

Check in at the MGM Grand went smoothly - our room was ready, and all the 'perks' of our special deal were explained - it was a good deal! $79/night - $25 towards food in their restaurants, $10 table play and 2 VIP tickets to one of the clubs.

The room was in the 'west wing.'  Small, but modern and clean.  It felt like a New York City hotel room. King size bed, two TVs (one normal TV and one in the bathroom mirror - very cool!)  After getting ready for dinner, we headed from the MGM via two taxis to the Wynn.

All of us were very excited to see the Wynn and the new Encore. We had dinner reservations a bit early to enjoy the prix fix dinner option on the menu.  The service was very good, staff attentive and helpful.  We were a big group, 8 in total.  We had a nice round table in the middle of the dining room with plenty of space and a view of the waterfall outside. The one downside was that when the waterfall show was on the music in the dining room was pumped up and a bit loud for dinner conversation.

We brought a bottle of our own wine which was served without a problem and supplement with a few additional bottles.  The wine was very good (probably more our picks than the restaurant) and paired well with the food. The crew enjoyed a variety of selections - steak, stake (fish), chicken - all delicious, no complaints.

I'm a big dessert fan and dessert didn't deliver.

After dinner we explored the Wynn, played at the blackjack tables and before leaving explored the Encore.  The Encore is beautiful, like most new Vegas hotels today.

From the Encore we headed to Jet, a nightclub at the MIrage. We had reservations for bottle service.  Though expensive, with a group of 8, it was fabulous to have our own seating area, table, and server.  The club was great, music pretty good and the bubble room was a blast!

After a lot of fun, drinking and dancing, we headed back to the MGM, already on Vegas time -
