We woke up early and headed to the Pacific Coast. We really did not have any set plans and after reading about different towns - we settled on Long Beach. The drive out there was amazing. Again - we had great weather - blue skys. Once we got to Long Beach - I must admit - we were a little disappointed. The town was nice - but not a place where we would want to stay the night. We were there in Winter - so maybe Summer months are better. We ate lunch at Castaway Grille and it was very good. I had popcorn shrimp and Mark had fried fish. If you go - be sure to get the spinach artichoke dip - amazing! :) After lunch we got our coffee fix at the Long Beach Roaster and headed (walked) to the beach. I have never seen the Pacific Ocean before so I was really excited.
Since we were not really excited about the town (or the surrounding towns), we decided to go to Portland. It was only about a 2 hour drive - and again the drive was beautiful. Once in Portland, we stayed at the Marriott. It was in a great location because it was right in the middle of the city. The city is very pretty at night - the trees that line the streets are decorated with white lights. It was nice as we walked to dinner - Jack's Grill. Jack's was great and had a variety of food. It was a nice way to end the day.
