We left work on Friday at 3:00 pm. After a couple of quick stops we were on the road by quarter of four. Traffic wasn't *too* bad on the way there. Our trusty GPS had us find the hotel with no problems.
We picked hit hotel because it was within walking distance of the boardwalk and downtown, it was cheap and it allowed us to have our dog with us. I wasn't expecting a whole lot out of it.
Check in was a breeze and we were off to our new home for the weekend. The room was a small. That was the first thing I noticed when I walked in...after further inspection I found out why the room was so short.
It was because in the giant bathroom there was a very large jacuzzi tub! Right on! In the room there was also a fridge, microwave, large screen TV and two nice terry cloth robes for when you are done with the jacuzzi. Overall it very nice, especially for the price!
We unpacked and settled in. Our dog Pappy was so funny. He didn't understand what was going on at all since this was our first time taking him on a trip. He just kind of stayed on the bed, looking around with his ears flat back...you could tell that he was really hoping that we hadn't given up our house for this tiny little place. He was very timid that first night but after he realized this was the same as any other place where you eat and sleep, he was fine.
We didn't plan on going anywhere that night so we set about to finding a pizza place that delivered. We toyed with the idea of Pizza My Heart but when we looked online we found the prices to be quite outrageous. I'm sure it is great pizza(never had it myself) but almost 30 bucks for a large pizza??? Not this trip, we were all about pinching pennies this trip.
Finally we found an online menu for Joe's Pizza and Subs so we called and placed our order.
I wanted to hit the outside jacuzzi and pool while it was still not completely freezing outside. The pool was supposed to be heated so I didn't think there would be a problem. I hit the jacuzzi first while Rob waited for the pizza guy to show up. After about ten minutes of roasting in there I got in the pool.
It was NOT heated!
AT ALL!
I jumped right back out and shivering with pins and needles on my skin I got back in the hot tub as fast as I could. Yes, it is California...but it is still JANUARY!!
Rob joined me in the tub a little bit later and then we went back to the room to eat, watch some TV and hit the sack.
