I had planned this Vacation for 2009 , but due to my Husband being Navy , and active duty , we had to bump it till 2010
Our annual Family vacation, this year to the Smoky Mountains. Something for everyone , in the wide range of ages of our group. Total prices are based on our 5 person family , of Mom, Dad , 15 year old , 9 year old , 5 year old .
I am a very early planner when it comes to my families summer vacations , I have no choice but to be with 4 children that range from 21 to 4. I have always wanted to go in to the Smoky Mountain region and this was my year. Last year we did Disney and that was mainly for the kids , being that I am from Florida and have been there a million times. So this year I decided to go some where more catered towards my husband and I , but with fun children things packed in there as well . I think that I did a well job in planning a little something for everyone. If anyone that has been here or a local can think of anything else please let me know. I would also love some recommendations for some great family restaurants !
Since you are going to be there in July you should get the Dollywood Splash and Play ticket. It is not much more than a Dollywood single day ticket. It gives you entry to Dollywood and Splash Country for 3 days. It is hot there in July.
Hi, my mother was a Carlton from Florida as well (Hawthorne/Campville), and my family and I live near Memphis now. My husband is a military man, so that's what brought us out here. Our oldest son goes to U of Tennessee in Knoxville, so we're planning on doing Dollywood at some point. I hear it's so much fun, and the other 4 kids should all find something they like. Hope your trip is great!
My son & I are planning our annual Birthday vacation to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg. A co-worker told me that his family never misses the Applewood Family Restaurant; so that's added to our ever-growing itinerary! We may have to extend this year a few more days! Have Fun!
Thanks so much for your research! I am headed to the same place tomorrow and was able to glean a few ideas from yours! As you can see, I am a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants planner when it comes to attractions. I get the dates, hotel, directions and packing done, but usually save the what will we do planning for when we get there.
