Oceanside trip

The resort is brand new and was very nice.  I must say that the service was wonderful.  All staff were very friendly and helpful.  One thing you should know is that there is a train right behind the resort.  It runs all night.  Our two bedroom was at the end - we did get used to it after a few days.   I would stay here again in a heart beat.  The gym is fab as well as the pool.  The beach sand is the best I've ever walked on - so soft and comforting.

My husband and friend needed to rest - therefore most of these places are within walking distance of the resort.

Vigilucci's Osteria is a 10 min walk up Mission - great food and wonderful service.  You can bring your own wine - $15 corkage fee.

Johnny Mananas - it's a walk up and order place but don't let this fool you.  This is a local fav and they are very inexpensive and great food.  The Firehouse beer special is very good as well.

Dairy Queen is right next to Johnny Mananas and is good for an afternoon sweet.

Ruby's is good for a meal on the pier or a old fashioned sunday.

Gianni's is right next to movie theater and is great for pizza - we had plain cheese.

The Farmers Market starts @ 10 a.m. every Thursday - what a great find!  would drive back just for this - very small but special.   We had breakfast two times at the Long Border Cafe - very good food and you can go to the market right after if you plan well.

The Oceanside Museum of Art is very small and you should try to make it Sunday afternoon when free and leave a donation.  If not you wil pay about $6 bucks for adults and it's very small.  They do change exhibits so I would check it out online if you want more info.

The local mission is only about a 15 min drive.  Very nice afternoon to do.

The Wild Animal Park is only 30 mins away.  We have anual passes but didn't make it this trip.

Little Italy is about a 30 min drive.  They have lots of festivals and promos that happen here.  We went during the week and found out that after 5 p.m. they had a festival but was too late for us to stay.  If we had known we could have done the food tasting.  I would look up on line for schedule of events for next time.

We love the area so much we plan to return in early spring.

Hope this helps with your trip.
