New Journal Entry

My daughter and I stayed with friends in New Jersey for the weekend.  We drove to Weehawken to take the ferry into the city.  This is such a nicer, lower stress way to go.  We also discovered that the Lincoln Tunnel was closed that day so we really did choose wisely.

We had tickets for the 8pm Spamalot show at the Shubert Theater.  We got a little turned around on our way to Weehawken.  I had to call the restaurant to change our reservations from 6:00 to 6:30.  They were very accomodating.  Once we got off the ferry the wait wasn't too bad for the taxi.  We arrived at the restaurant, Plataforma Churrascaria, at 6:35.  We were taken directly to our table.  Service was great.  We received an excellent wine recommendation.  This Brazilian restaurant seats you and provided cards, red on one side and green on the other, that you use to let the waitstaff know when you are ready to receive the copious amounts of grilled foods that they bring to your table until you turn your card to red.  But first there is the wonderful salad bar.  It really has something for everyone, although this is a "steak house" a vegetarian will do nicely here as well.  It is a price fixed menu with one price per person.  Once we finished our salads and flipped our cards from red to green there was an endless parade of people bringing by various cuts of beef, pork, chicken, octopus, fried cheeses, etc.  They would cut single serving slices right to your plate.  Delish.

Our main waiter was a bit alarmed to learn that we had 8pm theater tickets.  We had to rush dinner a bit which was a real shame considering that cost and quality but ... on to Spamalot.

I wasn't thrilled when my friend told me she had gotten tickets to this play.  However I was wrong - it was great.  We had three teenagers and three adults and we all enjoyed it.

From the play it was back to the ferry and an enjoyable, city in lights ride back to Weehawken and then home.
