Martin Germany 08

I was originally going to leave on the 23rd of August but a typhoon in Hong Kong the day before changed this. I finally left on the 24th of August and arrived into Hong Kong that night after being downgraded to Economy and having to sit in the middle of three seats next to an old Italian lady who didn't speak a word of english. I had to help her and the flight attendent as they both could not work out how to use the inflight entertainment.

The flight into HKG arrived late which meant that getting to my connecting flight to Frankfurt would be pretty much impossible. However, after meeting dad at arrivals we made it on time to the staff check in desk to learn that I would have no chance of getting to frankfurt that night as the typhoon was still causing issues with the backlog of full fare paying passengers. Instead we went down to Burger King and then went to the Headland Hotel. Not a bad substitute.

When we got back to hotel close to midnight, dad went down to Cathay City to list me on the following nights flight. On his way back he just happened to walk into the Captain who was flying to Paris the night I wanted to go to frankfurt. The captain offered me the jump seat to Paris as my chances of getting to anywhere in Europe were pretty much nil.

On the 25th August, Dad and I went to Tung Chung for lunch, we thought we would be healthy, so Pizza Hut it was. While at Tung Chung we went to the stationary shop where dad dropped a few. To get the full effect of this you need to remember the pungency of dads bowel movements and how small the store was. After this I went to Fortress whereI looked at a couple of digital camera and bought a Pentax camera for about $200 AUD.

Just before heading back to the hotel for tea we went to Terminal 2 to see the aviation museum. This was realy good as for only $15 HKG you got to go to their sky deck which was on the top of the terminal right between the two runways. This will probably bore you, but you could getsome really good pictures of incoming and outgoing aircraft. COOL!!!!!

Finally at 23:00 on 25th August I got my ticket for Paris. As I was collecting my ticket the agent told dad and I that I was the ony staff member to get a ticket tonight for any destination in the US, Europe or South Africa, just because I had the jump seat.
