Sameer's lovely description of the vacation:
My cruise trip to Alaska was the trip of a lifetime. The excitement and enjoyment was exhilarating. We went to many beautiful and chilly places: Ice Strait Point, Hubbard Glacier, Skagway, and the capital Juneau. Starting with Ice Strait Point was excellent we took a bus to the downtown area. There we received a nice free history lesson at a comfy work place. We learned many things from such a nice lady. Next we passed by Hubbard Glacier, and stayed there to inhale its amazing presence. The glacier was a magnificent site. We couldn’t go too close to the glacier or things called, shooters, would hit the boat. A shooter is a block of ice that shoots from under the water and comes at a rapid speed that could harm the boat. Awaiting us was Skagway, a marvelous area. There we roamed around and went on a informational tour over part of the city. Later we went on a train ride which we saw many amazing areas. Last but not least, the capital Juneau was here. There we toured around on our own, saving a buck. Many beautiful stores were there filled with unique and ancient items. As for the cruise ship, couldn’t find words to describe how gorgeous it was, perfection, the perfect word to describe that cruise. Hey, it might not be a warm trip, but it sure was one to most defiantly remember.

Trip Journal

I had always wanted to go to Alaska so this summer my dream came true- and we took the Royal Caribbean cruise to bounty-ful Alaska. We could not have asked for more pur-fect weather. We took a week long cruise aboard the Royal Caribbean which set sail from Vancouver.  We went with our long-time friends so it made it all the more fun- as they say the more the merrier.

I had not expected Alaska to have such massive natural beauty- I was just amazed. On most days I wished I could just camp in the wilderness and make hotdogs and smores and sleep under the stars minus not get eaten by the grizzlies. However, we did not see any wildlife.

As we got settled in the ship- we had the first formal night- which is always fun- dressing up and all- as there is nothing much to do ( no job to go to) hey what is a girl to do- I went to the spa and got my hair done and got a facial- and then there is always shopping and exercising and working out and sometimes you run into interesting people- the staff was pretty interesting- I ran into a lot of Indian crew who were very sweet and friendly

Our first port of call was Icy Strait Point- it was a tiny little village- or introduction to Alaska.

Our second port of call was Skagway- a beautiful town with beautiful houses- it looked like a resort. We checked out the homes and did some souvenir shopping and did a town tour with a guide.

The third port of call was Juneau, the capital of Alaska- we took the White Pass Rail which takes us into Canada- it was the funnest train ride which lasts 3.5 hours- we went and stood on the train deck for quite a while.

Most of the show nights were fun- the Osmond brothers showed up one night.

The finale night was grand. We also took cha-cha, tango and ballroom classes- I hope I remember the dancing steps I so painfully learnt with my sweet dancing partner.

And how can I not mention the buffet and the great meals at the formal restaurant- inspite of my best efforts I am sure I gained a few pounds- however I refused to jump on the scale before and after- but I am back on my exercise regimen.
