Road trip from Austin, Texas to Washington, DC . inspired by "Southern Belly" - we're going to do our best to hit local eats along the way.
The days are long, and there are a lot of itneresting stops, so I am adding lots of sights that are close to the highway. If we are inspired or need a break, we'll have those places mapped out... if we miss them, we'll try next time!
I'm planning a similar trip sometime August 2009. If you're willing, I'd love to get a a copy of your itinerary, points of interest, do's-and-don'ts, etc. etc. The trip will include 2 or 3 families, all kin, caravaning across the eastern states. We, of course, want to visit the White House, Washington Monument and other points of interest in tha area, as well as visit Hershey, Pennsylvania -- we hear it's awesome for kids... and adults! Thanks, Tino
Glad to provide more info! I will try to update the trip plan with more details.
This part of the country is beautiful - with some planning you can find something interesting for all ages.
I used to live in the DC area. Our entire family became experts at touring the monuments and sites.
First, I recommend getting a AAA membership. They have great maps, which is a life saver when you need help, or need to change routes at the last minute.
hello, I will be making a similar trip in May of 09, however I will be traveling from El Paso, Tx to D.C. so we will be going through Dallas, Arkansas, Memphis, etc. I am interested in finding local hole in the wall restaurants along the way and was just wondering what advice you could give as far as any sites you searched to find these types of places on your trip...is there anything else that I may need to know??
