Hawaii 09
We had a wonderful time celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii. The Aloha spirit was everywhere we traveled in the islands.
Day one was mainly a travel day for us. We left DFW Airport at noon and had a short layover in LA and arrived in Hawaii 5 hours later. We had VIP trans arranged to pick us up, deliver leis and drop off at our hotel. The reception was not as discribed and basicly they said "Here are your leis", loaded us up and drove to the hotel. Along the way, the driver complained about how tourist are down and he was going to lose his car. Stay away from VIP Transit.
We arrived at the Imperial and checkin was a breeze. The staff met us as we came off the shuttle and in a matter of 5 mins we were in our room.
2. Don't eat in restaurants you can eat at where you live. Why fly to Hawaii and eat at Denny's? Or Bubba Gump's?
3. Do thorough research and find the "needle in the haystack" places that are amazing and very unique.
4. Stay away from Waikiki. It's totally commercialized. Check out Kaneohe, and botannical gardens, and secluded beaches.
5. Talk to the locals about local food, local restaurants, local events/festivals, where to go, and where NOT to go.
