I am actually writing this on Tuesday, 7/29/08:
As is usually the case (when I'm not traveling with my bad-luck brother Lincoln), I made it home without issue. The newly-renovated kitchen here looks great, my plants are all healthy, and my cold is getting better. The basement became quite damp and humid while I was away, and this caused moisture to build up and mold and mildew to grow, which in turn damaged some of my belongings. Thankfully, my photos and journals seem to be unharmed. There is now a dehumidifier running and I am in the process of replacing all of my packing boxes, since several of them became damp and collapsed on themselves. It has kept me quite busy these past 24 hours.
I chatted with a friend I made in Ocoee and received an e-mail from Grandma. I was very happy to receive it, because it means she remembers what I taught her! I just hope it continues.
I went to a movie with Lincoln and Courtnee this afternoon to kill time, and talked to Jillian about dad a bit. She apparently sent him a letter a couple weeks ago that dad has made no mention of. I am curious to see how he will respond, if at all.
So basically, everything is going well. As soon as I re-pack all of my belongings, I'll feel a little better. Right now my things are strewn all over my basement abode.
I'd like to give special thanks to my (new) friends at the House Blend Cafe
, who graciously provided me with free high-speed internet and a conveyor belt of great hot teas while I was in Orlando. If you ever find yourself in central Florida (most Americans do at some point!), definitely stop in and try their coffees and food. If you can't, then at least visit their web site!
Lastly, I'd like to thank Andy, who not only made sure my cup was always full, but who has also become a welcome, and albeit unexpected, new friend.
