Overrated in my opinion, but at least now I can say I’ve been to Waikiki . I expected something with a little more ambiance like Venice or South Beach . It’s still a good place if you want to be a beach bum or want to take some surfing lessons.
Seaside Bar & Grill,
Cute little family restaurant. We stopped in for breakfast and the coconut pancakes were great. Very reasonably priced, breakfast specials ranging between $3.95-$7.95. Their lunch menu looked very budget friendly as well.

Paradise Cove Luau
We were picked up from the hotel about 4:00 (it’s about a 40 minute ride from Waikiki ). Our guide on the bus was wonderful, Cousin Jackie, she was entertaining while giving us an education on the islands. There were many activities in the few hours before the main show and dinner was served. They showed us how to make a lei, gave hula and sarong tying lessons and offered boat rides in the cove. Just prior to dinner they conduct a royal ceremony and unearth the pig being served from the ground. The food was pretty good, the pork was so tender it fell apart. Other menu items included various salads, poi and chicken. The main show featured great energy from the singers, fire dancers and of course the hula girls and guys. We did the Orchid package which is one step up form the basic; it offers an Orchid lei upon arrival, better seating and an extra drink. It’s about $20 more but worth in my opinion.
