July 4th Whitewater Rafting Trip 2008

We left for West Virginia around 7:30 AM and stopped for lunch in Dayton, Ohio at PF Chang's!!!  YUMMY!!  Somewhere along the way,   Shane lost his credit card but we didn't let that ruin our trip. 

We arrived in Fayetteville and checked in to the hotel.  Leaving Riley (our dog) behind,  we set out to explore the area.

The New River Gorge Bridge is 876 feet tall!  Our rafting trip would end under the bridge tomorrow.

After we left the overlook and after hunting down a gas station (we were on empty!!),  we headed down to the bottom of the gorge.

These are Class III Rapids that were under the bridge.  This would be our final set of rapids tomorrow. 

We crossed the old bridge and made our way down to the water.  Shane wanted to see how cold the water was so we would know what we were in for in the morning!  It didn't feel too bad..Believe it or not!!

After our tour of the area,  we headed to Pizza Hut for dinner.  When we got back to the hotel,  we got Riley and walked over to Dairy Queen for dessert.  Everyone was tired after the long day of traveling and we headed  to bed to get our rest for our big day tomorrow!
