KL to Macao

This is written and published to share the convenience of planning your own travelling to Macao , Hong Kong and Shenzhen , China , from a non-Chinese (but non-Muslim) Malaysian perspective.

Visa fee for Malaysian Citizen is RM30 per entry to China . You can also get visa with multiple entries within 6 month, 12 month and 24 months which will cost you RM80, RM120 or RM240 respectively. The regular processing time is 4 days. However, your visa can be ready on the same day you applied, for additional fee of RM140.

China Embassy is located at Consular Office, 1st floor, Plaza OSK (5 mins walking distance from Ampang Park LRT station) and only open up to 11 a.m., which thereafter, no admission is granted, even if only to come and ask one simple question.

Tips: The girls at the visa application counters are not extremely friendly and informative. I initially wanted to go to Shenzhen on 23/6/2008 and written as such, however, when I got my visa, it stated that date entry as before 23/6/2008. Luckily, a day difference means I will just change my itinerary. What upsets me the most was the attitude of the ‘people behind the counters’ who refused to explain why the difference.

All in all, I only spent about RM1.6K for the whole trip. Breakdown is as shown below for your easy estimation.

a)     Flight (Airasia) > KL to Macao (RM49.99++), Shenzhen to KL  (RM49.99++) = RM440

b)     Visa = RM30

c)     Travel insurance = RM50

d)     Accommodation (twin sharing) = RM350

e)     Food (<RM20/meals) = RM300

f)       Transportation = RM150

g)     Entrance fee = RM170 (Wax museum = RM50, Splendid China/Cultural Village = RM60, Windows of the World – RM60)

h)     Leisure, souvenirs & misc. = RM140

Talk about this trip (10)
I have never ever imagined I would visit China without taking a package from a tour agency. Somehow, on a particular day, when i met YMF an ex-colleague who loves to travel as well, I said "hey, let's go to Hong Kong next month!" She was as excited as I am (I think), and we started other girls to join us on our next adventure. Sadly, none of them are interested. So, we get our hubbies to join us! Hehehe...

While in Hong Kong,April 1-3, 2009, I would like to take the ferry to Macau. Afterwards, I would like to fly to Guilin to tour the Li river. Any suggestions or recommendations for a single traveller would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

you can take ferry to macau for hk140++...

what kind of do u need? do u speak any chinese language? i have not been to guilin and li river, but heard that the tourist attraction in guilin is quite a distance...but the scenery is awesome...you can join any of the local tours (heard there's a lot)...

enjoy ur trip...

by the way, i think shenzhen's windows of the world is great (guangzhao)...you can take train from hong kong to shenzhen for abt 1 hour...then take the metro train to this place....easily reachable by public transportation...just spend 2-3 days in shenzhen for windows of the world 1 day, china folk village 1 day (not that great, but still...nice)...

You are so lucky. Getting a visa from Los Angeles to enter China cost me $130. That is too much for a developing country.
