So its Thursday and I get off of work. I had a slow start as I had to pickup a friend with a delayed arriving Metra train. Once on board, we drive up to Big Foot Beach State Park. Its a nice little park and was lucky enough to secure a spot even if just for July 3rd. The scenery was nice and not as crowded as I feared as the campground was all booked up with reservations. The campground was fine and the facilities were typical of a state park. I didn't find the staff was difficult as oft mentioned in park reviews and found them courteous albeit a bit slow with registration. The state park beach is incredibly small and has no sand, just rocks. So take it for what its worth. Its a campground next to Lake Geneva if you want cheap lodging that's not a B&B or excessively pricey resort hotel. After setting up, we head into town with the intention of riding our bikes throughout the town but my friend's bike had a flat so we just walked around. We eat dinner at Tempura House (review link). Afterwards, we walk around some more and try a few bars (Champs and Carvetti's) to sample the night life but mostly stuck to Champ's outdoor beer garden as it was Beer Pong night at Carvetti's. A couple of beers and I was ready to call it a night.
