We left Lexington on time and had a nice trip to Charlottesville, Va. The Monticello took us a bit longer than we had planned, but it was well worth it. Admission was $15.00 and it included three tours. The home, the gardens and the slave tours. We did the first two. The garden tour was great as there were many varieties of plants, flowers, trees, and vegtables. The cherries were ripe, but all thast could be reached from the ground were already picked. The vegatble garden was amazing with many different plants growing. Our tour guide was a very informative and nice lady.
Next we toured the home. It is air conditioned inside, and was very impressive. We went through the underground portion and came out the other side. The ice house, and smoke house were impressive.
After we left Moticello, we decided we were getting tired and went straight to the hotel. We checked in and went to get some supplies and dinner at Cici's pizza. We did not make it to Arlington or the zoo, but we will get started again early tomorrow.
The Zoo, The Holicost Museum, Vietnam Memorial, Korea Memorial, Native American Museum, History Museum, Art Museum.
Even so, we felt like we covered a lot and had a very good time.
