Only the Beginning

Well, this journal highlights the events of the first few weeks of my life as a 25 year old. As my quarter life crisis gift to myself, I decided that I would whisk myself away to Italy in October! After 6-8 months of planning, the trip of a lifetime had finally arrived:)

ImageBefore the trip though, I had a 25th b-day party to plan and focus on. The Thursday after my birthday, close friends and I gathered at GuestHouse in Manhattan for dancing, drinking and the usual drama. The trauma that we all experienced at the door frisking evaporated immediately once we took the stairs up to the club's main area. At one of the hottest clubs, we received a table and a complimentary bottle of champagne! And the drinking and dancing commenced! Sure, the evening involved me getting a bit loopy off of champagne, vodka cranberries and a lemon drop shot. And vicious smirks at the guys dressed as nerdy Kanye. And the crowning moments as we left the club.

Jamie and I decided that we were on a mission to get cupcakes! But first, we walked over to Marquis for some unfinished business. I had a bone to pick with Marquis because in prior weeks, they would not let us into the Dakota Fanning Hounddog party. So it was time to get even. J & I walked ourselves over to the front of the club, directly in front of security, doormen, and the long line of folks attempting to get into the club. And I stood there and took off my Prada heels and replaced them with ballet flats, which was basically my version of telling Marquis to shove it. I felt that I had truly snubbed them, especially since someone would never change into their walking shoes in front of a "hott" club. Well Marquis, you just lost your hotness factor. And off we went to the West Village for the rest of the evening.

OMG!! A fellow La Giostra lover. It is mandatory for me to eat there whenever I can get to Florence!

I have to know how you did the flight trick with the empty seats! My friend and I are embarking on a quarter life crisis journey of our own in July, and I am all about whatever tips you can provide.

If you only had two weeks and a smaller budget, what stops on your trip would you keep and which would you let go? I am dying to know!

I think your trip was awesome!; I've been to the same cities you went to except Milan and Venice which I plan to visit on a different trip, instead I decided to go to Napoli and eat traditional Pizza and Pompeii and Erculiano, two cities preserved from the year 67 AD when Mount Vesuvio erupted its hot ashes over it in the middle of the night. I thought Napoli was a little ghetto but its bay and the castel dell'ovo and the street markets were very unique. I see that you did a lot of fashion shopping which I guess its a must for women of your age and clubbing. Each city in Italy has its treasures, but for me Saint Peter's Basilica in the Vatican was the most impressive man made structure that I have ever seen and walking all the way up the dome and when you come out and you can see a 360* of Rome is magnificent! also I recommend when in Rome going to see the Roman Baths, the Borghese museum and art gallery and of course the Sistine Chapel.
