ImageArrival

Finally taking that vacation to Philadelphia, PA, our Nation’s first capital and the ‘birthplace of the United States ,’ is made easy by the convenience of the Pennsylvania International Airport and your family’s accommodations at the Windsor Suites hotel in Philadelphia ’s Center City . The hotel is also in close proximity to Philadelphia ’s historic 30th Street Station, servicing Amtrak, SEPTA and NJ Transit train lines. After arriving in Philadelphia , finding transportation to your spacious accommodations won’t be hard because of the hotel’s central Philly location. Be sure to charge your camera battery and pack your walking shoes for a delightful retreat to this historical city.

Day 1: Chestnut Street

Rejoice! A relaxing vacation in Philadelphia has begun. Windsor Suites helps ease your group’s morning with a complimentary Continental breakfast for two before heading out to Chestnut Street’s historical landscape. Home of Independence Hall, Old City Hall and Congress Hall, this highly condensed area of sights ensures great photos and memories.

Depart for Chestnut Street , Philadelphia ’s home of American firsts. Start at Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence was adopted and The Constitution was written and signed in this Georgian style, historic building, completed in 1753. An informational tour provided by an expert and time-encapsulated rooms make Independence Hall, formerly known as the “Pennsylvania State House” come alive. Located at Chestnut St. between 5th & 6th Streets, Old City Hall divides Independence Hall and Congress Hall. This is the historic location of the first Supreme Court during 1791-1800, and home to Philadelphia ’s first city hall. Congress Hall, where the Bill of Rights was ratified, was the first home of the United States Congress when Philadelphia stood as the capital of the United States . Finally, squeeze in a Liberty Bell sighting. Used to announce the first reading of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, the Liberty Bell is notorious for its ‘crack’ and the story surrounding it.

Finally, it is time for lunch. Philadelphia is a great place for awesome food. Jones restaurant is a perfect spot and close to Chestnut Street ’s historical icons. Jones, located at 700 Chestnut Street has been rated one of the ‘best comfort food’ restaurants several years in a row. With a trendy atmosphere and menu reminiscent of home-style dishes (with contemporary twists), Jones is perfect for a family meal or business luncheon.

If your thirst for history and authentic American sights hasn’t been satisfied, visit the Betsy Ross House at 239 Arch Street . The seamstress of the first United States flag has a museum dedicated to her and her story, where time period crafts are displayed and the information and story about Betsy Ross is retold.

A living room, large desk area and thoughtful amenities are signature services of Windsor Suites’ extended stay suites. With plenty of space, your family will have time to relax before catching dinner at one of Windsor Suites’ on-site restaurants. Asia on the Parkway, an Asian fusion restaurant, is conveniently located in the hotel in the heart of Philly’s City Center .
