We rented a three bedroom h
ouse (Casa Miramar) at Bosque del Cabo. The place is wonderful - right on the edge of the cliffs, so it catches the sea breezes and keeps the bugs down. It is about a half mile walk to the lodge (and meals) with a bit of a hill, so some folks might not like it, but we loved the privacy and tranquillity. It also came with its own small pool, which was great in the heat of the day, since we spent the middle of the day in the pool and in hammocks.
We spent each morning and evening hiking the trails around the preserve that surrounds the lodge. The trails are very well kept and we saw unbelievable numbers of animals. A rough list from memory includes:
Howler monkeys (which woke us up most mornings at dawn with really, really loud howls)
4 kinds of snakes
4 kinds of frogs
3 kinds of lizards
Leaf cutter ants
Giant spiders, grasshoppers, beetles, etc.
