Left work today at 3:30 and I picked up my husband Rob around the corner at his work. Only had to wait a few minutes for him to finish up and then we were on the road.
I drove through Spreckels and actually merged onto the freeway but I couldn't keep up with the traffic so after about ten miles in I pulled over and let Rob take over(for those that don't know, I have an intense phobia of driving on the freeway so this alone was a huge step for me!)
On the drive down I texted with my girls a bit and then pulled out my Ipod and started playing the disco songs I had downloaded for Sondra's party that we never used. I'm sure it was amusing for anyone driving by us to see us doing disco moves in our car. :-)
That made for some fun moments and pepped up the drive a little.
All in all we made good time and got to Bakersfield in better time than last year. The difference was that we saved a stop at the grocery store for when we rolled into town this year instead of before.
When we rolled into the hotel the room was a handicapped room but it was still cool. I don't think I've ever stayed in a room that had this high of ceilings. It's a bit weird because we
want to whisper so we don't echo.
So after all is said and done, Rob has just restrung his guitar and I have just dyed my hair. He is about to head into the shower and then we are going to eat up the goodies we got at Albertsons and head to bed.
So far it has been a good trip. I need to give myself a manicure but I am far too relaxed after my shower to worry about it...I might just get one at the Strat! :-)
I talked to my mom this morning and she got checked in okay. She spent most of the night out on a slot but only lost 40 bucks so I can't fault her much. She was so cute. She was sleeping when I called and so when she answered the phone she was all froggy voiced from the smoke in the casino and it gave me a weird jolt because she sounded just like her mother, my grandmother who has been gone for more than ten years. Kinda freaky.
Okay I need to go to bed.
I'll post pictures and blog more when there are more interesting things to post. :-)
