The Active Island (Koh Samui) Package

Ko Samui

***************************************************************

Day1

Destination       Samui

Morning

Namuang Waterfall

There are 2 waterfalls. Na Muang one is 18 meter high and can be reached by vehicle. Na Muang two is about 80 meters high and can only be reached by a 30 minute walk. Although Samui has several waterfalls, the two Na Muang waterfalls are probably the islands most stunning. The name Na Muang (meaning purple in Thai) refers to the massive purple rocks that create the waterfalls.

Rocks and tree roots form a natural staircase that leads to the base of Na Muang 1. A large natural swimming pool sits under the waterfall, although beware of the hidden rocks when diving and swimming. The water is always icy cold, so it's perfect for a hot day. A gentle walk 10 minutes further up the mountain leads you to Samui's most beautiful waterfall, Na Muang 2.

The waterfalls are the most scenic on the island. Elephant trekking is also available at the Nu Muang waterfalls

Na Muang waterfalls are easily accessible from the main ring road between Nathon and Lamai and are well signposted.

Elephant Trek

Traditional and fun, elephant treks on the island of Koh Samui involve anything from fifteen minutes walk to full day safaris through otherwise hard-to-reach jungle, pausing to take in wonderful views from hilltops or cooling splashes through waterfalls.

Treks can be organized as part of a full day tour to see a variety of attractions on the island. Thailand 's strong sense of ecology means that the majority of elephant trekking companies treat their animals very well and keep the treks short, or punctuated by hikes to allow the beasts to rest in their native jungle habitat.

One of the sights you might like to visit on your full day tour, due to its restricted access, includes the Secret Buddha Garden .

Afternoon

Monkey show

Koh Samui is synonymous with coconut trees - there are literally plantations all over the island, and until tourism arrived, coconuts were the main industry here. To get to the coconuts: Enter the monkey, considered as man's best friend. These industrious little animals are greatly prized and give a demonstration of their incredible dexterity (and not just at picking coconuts) in the outdoor theatre.

The entertainment also includes performing elephants

Chaweng beach

Chaweng Beach, located on Koh Samui's east coast, is the most developed area on the island. It attracts many young travelers and families alike, and remains good value for the money.

The beach is approximately 7 Km long, with powdery white sand. It is bordered by dreamy, emerald-blue waters and a coral reef where waves break, leaving the bay quite peaceful. Two small islands are close to the reef -- the nearest one can easily be accessed by walking through the shallow waters. The second island, further out and larger, provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy snorkeling and kayaking. Bring shoes if you plan to walk around the islands, as they are made of sharp coral sands.

The central part of the beach is a bit more crowded than the quieter north. Many vendors pass by offering beverages, fruit, ice cream and local Thai food for the more daring.

A variety of local crafts and Thai souvenirs are also available.

Day 2

Morning

Ko Nang Yuan

The island is nothing but a group of three small islands located to the north of Ko Tao. Offering stunning and breathtaking views, the islands are connected by a three-way stretch of pure white powdery beach.

The rich marine life at Ko Nang Yuan is similar to that of Ko Tao. With a wide variety of coral formations, the island is also an ideal diving and snorkeling spot. Accommodations and facilities are available with daily boat service to and from Ko Tao.

Sea Kayaking at Ang Thong National

The trip to the spectacular Angthong National Marine Park will take about 2 hours and will take in the magnificent scenery of the north coast of Koh Samui and Koh Pha ngan, the venue for the famous Full Moon Parties.

Upon entering the tranquil waters of the Marine Park your tour guide will give a briefing on the day’s activities and introduce you to the fleet of the world's number one sit-on-top kayak, the Malibu Two.

You will enjoy fine Thai cuisine and have ample time for exploring beneath the water or just relaxing and absorbing the unforgettable images that will stay with you forever.

Afternoon

The Big Buddha

Samui's most popular attraction, The Big Buddha sitting 15 meters tall was built in 1972 by the local society to give visitors a place to pay respect to The Lord Buddha. This monumental landmark is placed on the island's Northern shore.

Butterfly Garden

Na Tian Butterfly Garden is situated at the bottom of the hill south of the island. Apart from the numerous species of butterflies on display, there are also other interesting features in the garden: The bee house, a Thai style house which allows the visitor to observe the activities of bees. The insect museum, rare insects from Thailand and other countries are displayed here.
