Our second day started early with a day trip planned to Versaille castle. We took public transport..which is one of the best things about Paris; you can walk all around Paris and can take reliable, cheap and not too tiring Public transport to most places 2-3 hours away from Versaille.
The Versaille castle was everything and more that we expected. It's rich (pun intended) beyond expectations and especially the hall of mirrors..a 'not to miss site'. Tip: Bring along a nice big water bottle to save time and money buying water. You can fill this up at most places. Also, bring a good pair of walking shoes (not necessarily and preferably non-sneakers). Paris is a city for walkers; no two ways about that.
From Versaille, we visited Unesco in the heart of the city and walked down to Napolean's tomb..very impressive. (Les Invalides). And then off to the one mirage we saw from every picture we took..Eiffel Tower. It felt so close to us anywhere we were in Paris. It was great. Tip: everything available here is overpriced and not at all unique..so save youself a few bucks..
We picked up curious but delicious looking food along the way and had dinner in our tiny little room (for which we paid soo much money..location location location!..so totally worth it).
We started out again after dinner to tour Champs Elysee at night.. That's the nice thing about the city; it's totally alive and happening even at 11.00 pm. It's just nice to walk there; see the night life. Winter Paris is enjoyable because it's so less crowded but then you miss all the wonderful summer fountains and jardins..so take your pick..but both times.. Paris is worth visiting
