New Journal Entry

So here are our plans for our honeymoon so far but its still a work in prgress....

July 23rd, 2008:

Our Jet Blue flight is scheduled to depart from New York at 9:50am and arrive in Cancun at 12:50pm.

We will be picked up at the airport by a car service and taken directly to the Grand Oasis Playa where we will be staying. I am assuming that we will arrive at the resort shortly before 3pm which is the check-in time but am hoping that we will be able to check in as soon as we arrive. However, if we cannot check in, we will still be leaving our luggage behind.

We will then take the bus or a taxi to downtown Cancun to go see an actual bullfight at the Plaza de Toros. Bullfights are held here every Wednesday at 3pm.

Afterwards we will walk around downtown Cancun for a short time before heading back to the hotel to shower and change for dinner.

It being our first night there, we will most likely stay within the resort... maybe drink some champagne while relaxing in our personal jacuzzi and call in for some room service.

Thanks! Ive heard that its amazing and Ive done alot of research on it. Xcaret looks so beautiful! We'll definitly be going there for a full day... I cant wait to see the underground rivers and do Sea Trek.

I have been twice and would highly recommend xehla (pronounced shell-ha) We were told by several different local ones that this was the best one. We loved it, you could do it all there and we were able to do an all inclusive which included food, etc.

Have fun, you won't want to leave!

It sounds like you've got a great trip planned. We went in Sept.and loved it. Just a word of advice, there are people that are trying to sell time shares at the airport and the hotel. They have some pretty slick ways to get you sign up for the sales pitch. I fell for it and spent half the day listening to the "30 minute" sales pitch. Your time there is far to valuable to waste it with a salesman.

Friends and i are going to Cancun on June the 7th and we are staying at the grand oasis playa.Reading all kinds of reviews don't know what to expect let you know when we get back.

Well.. you guyz will actually be going before us because our trip is in July. Ive heard mixed reviews as well but Ive also heard from people that I actually know that as long as you tip the employees well, they will take care of you.

I have some advice for you...If you want to see the REAL Cancun, hop a taxi and go to boob-booms. It's a small bar and dance hall and they play a lot of dance type music. It is fun, but don't be too flashy and plan on leaving by 10pm. Tip the bartender well and he'll keep you safe and have a taxi waiting for you when you leave (he will also let you know if you over-stay your welcome!). It is more fun if you can have 4-6 people with you, as you feel a little more secure. It's more Mexico than the "Americanized Cancun".

Oh, about timeshares...I don't know about Mexico, but in the U.S if someone won't leave you alone and they offer you, say $100.00 (like they did me in Tahoe) to listen to their sales pitch...Just remember that you have three days to cancel a solicited contract. Sometimes it's easier to listen to them, sign up for the timeshare, take the money for a great night out and cancel the deal in writing and by phone the next day. ;)
