Afternoon of Day 1 - Thursday

To start off, Chuck and I realized that we had not been away together in almost 7 years!!  We really needed a break from the world and a chance to reconnect with each other.  After all, he's my best friend but lately we're busy with everyone else to notice!!  So here's our weekend and let me just encourage all of you reading this... GO to WinShape!!!  No matter where you are in your marriage... been married a month or 25 years... this is great for any couple to get pampered and get away!!!

Well, we've successfully made it through Madison, GA to drop the kids off with mom.  It was so nice of them to agree to watch the boys while we went on this weekend!!  What a break for us!  I'm sure they will not even know we're gone.  The kids are taking turns staying at Jeremy and Laura's house (april's brother and SIL) and Mom and Dad's house.  There're in Augusta, GA.

From Madison, it is about a 2 hour drive to Berry College.  My parents met at Berry so it's really neat that Chuck and I get to go there to have a relaxing weekend!  To see more of the Berry College scenery go here... Berry College.  The campus is the largest in the US... over 27,000 acres!!!  The Main Campus is the college and the Mountain Campus is three miles up the hill and that's where WinShape is.  Photos at WinShape are here... Photos of WinShape .

We arrived at WinShape around 4:30 pm and got settled in and dinner was at 5:30.  We were stunned at the scenery and the quiet.  The campus is flooded with deer, turkey, fields, trees, etc.  We were awed by the beauty and peacefullness all around.  Talk about being pampered from start to finish!!!  We arrived early because they said it was ok to come a day early so we took advantage of that.  Turns out, we were the only ones there!  We had the whole dining hall to ourselves.  The chef, Melissa, came and talked with us.  Dinner was steak, salmon, mashed potatoes, veggies, bread, pecan pie, chickfila sweet tea!!  After dinner, we walked around for a while in the balmy 55ยบ weather.   I've never seen so many stars in the sky!!  We turned in early since it's been 7 years since we've had a real good night's sleep and read for a while then proceeded to sleep for 10 HOURS!!!!  That's right... ahhh, blissful sleep!  We woke the next morning when our eyes opened.  What a novel idea!
