I arrived at the Denver aiport Wed night. I hope you aren't in a hurry to get your bags or your snowboard equipment. They take forever and then look at you funny when you don't tip them an hour later. After comparing the cost of renting a car and taking the shuttle to Vail and back. Rent the car in case you have the urge to go somewhere.
I woke up early to hit the slopes of Vail for the first time on Thursday. I was unprepared for just how BIG the mountains were! And the slopes were just awesome...
Here I am at the top of lift 11 just before you ride down into the back bowls. Amazing site.
This is the group of guys that went with me for Smitty's Bachelor party. It was a great time and some breath taking views.
Be prepared that it will take 45 minutes to an hour to get from lift 11 back to Lionhead. There was a 4.5 mile slope that totally took it all out of me after the first day. We headed to Garfinkel's for some "apre ski". This place was packed. And word to the wise, Vail isn't packed with chicks.
No worries we were going to celebrate anyway. So we take the bus over to Vail Village. Vail has a great bus system. Once there we head to a place called the club. We should have gotten here earlier every night because the one man band was great. I can't remember his name but it was about the best time I had was at "The Club" that was more of a dive bar.
We met a couple of older Cougars but nothing of interest for the guys on any night in Vail. There just are NO pickings there. But you don't go to Vail for anything other than the boarding! Here are a few more pics from the slopes. I hope you enjoy.
