Friday March 7 9pm. Hello everyone...Well, we made it to Tel Aviv finally! We left our house Thursday at 1am. We flew to Chicago then to Frankfurt, Germany then to Tel Aviv, Israel. What a long time travelling. We think we have slept maybe 6 hours in the last 3 days! We are just about to settle into a real bed! Yippee. We are at a great hotel on the Mediterranean Sea but will only be here for one day. We are going for a run along the beach in the morning, then a quick meal and shower then we are off to the Sea of Galilee/Ceasarea area. More to come tomorrow! Good night from Israel!
Hi: Your yellow sunset is like a post card. How beautiful. Draw close to the Lord and He will draw close to you. Kids are great. Being great. Fun to be with. Love them. Ron is helping with the ball practice. I need to get caught up in the house and laundry. Bet the flowers are beautiful. Galilee is so beautiful, the countryside is a picture we will never forget. Bring me a horse shoe from somewhere.
Day 2 Israel 3/8/08 We had another beautiful day today. We started in Caesarea today and wow..what a place...right on the Mediterranean Sea...it was like the Colosseum in Rome, but right on the ocean. Then we went to Mt. Carmel (where the Crespi Carmelites originated) then to Meggido and saw the millipede and walked thru a long underground water canal, then to Nazareth where we took pictures of local palestinean kids and moms. This where the people tried to throw Jesus off the cliff. Then to the Sea of Galalee in Tiberias where will spend the next few days and eat more gellato. Yum! Good bye for now!
Your pictures are great. Send us pictures of the group so that we can see faces. We want to see who went on the trip. Can you believe how much you did in one day? Caesarea if so cool. To think that Paul took off from there on a ship. Brandon, of course wanted to count the legs on the millipede because he did not believe it had a million legs. We told him to go ahead. Today, we are going to the show with the girls and then James will stay at Tia's house. Hasta otro tiempo.
Day 3 - 3/9/08 Tiberias - Sea of Galilee Hello everyone...another amazing day! And a busy day. We started early and went to see a 2000 year old boat that was found about 20 years ago then took a ride in a old wooden boat across the Sea of Galilee...very fun! Then we went to the Synagogue in Capernaum where Peters house has been uncovered. It is right outside the synagogue and is the house that Jesus went to for lunch and healed Peters mother in law and where they lowered the man thru the roof to be healed. Then we went to the Mount of Beatitudes, ate a whole fish right off the bone (Michelle had them cut the head off so it was not staring at her) at St Peters Fishhouse. Then to the cliff where the demons cast out of the crazy man and into the pigs then all the pigs went off the cliff into the sea. Then to the best part of all...baptism in the Jordan River. There were HUGE catfish and some weird rodent/rat/beaver looking thing swimming around us! Ugh..not very attractive river, but a great experience....all for now...time for bed! Love to you all.
HI Guys! Your pictures and comments are so amazing! You look like your having fun and what a God filled experience. I will have to book out a few nights with you guys when you return to hear all about it :) Scott & I will be praying you stay safe and that you continue to have a great time there! It's such an experience of a lifetime! We miss both of you and can't wait for you both to return!
Broken toe...or boker tov..which means good morning in Hebrew...it's the only word we know so I have to use it...although its nighttime here. The past two days have been action packed! We started yesterday with a couple in our group getting engaged..that was pretty cool. Then we drove to Tel Dan which was this amazing green lush agricultural preserve. There were some amazing ruins there and Jesus spent a lot of time in this area. Next we went to Tel Dan where the Jordan River comes straight out of the bottom of the mountain. We got a bit of rain here which was nice to clean the dust out of the air from the eastern wind bringing sand/dust from the Syrian and Iraqi deserts. Then to Nimrods Castle (wow) and to a military outpost that in northen Israel and only 1 mile to the Syrian and Lebanon borders. We saw a lot of UN presence, Israeli tanks, helicopters...picked up hitchhikers...picked up a tick filled dog (ugh) then went olive oil tasing at an olive oil factory. What a great time! Today (monday) we went to the most amazing mideival Crusader Kingdom called Akko on the Mediterranean Sea. It is a fully fortified (walled) city that is mostly inhabited by Turkish Arabs and Jews. There was a great Turkish bazaar and turkish food and this town and its castle and original buildings were almost completely in tact because the last ruler "the butcher" ordered the a lot of the town to be covered with sand to get rid of it. Now it's a lively city that tons of people visit and live in. Then because today was our first clear day we hiked up Mt Arbell to take pictures of the Sea of Galilee from this amazing cliff/mountain. Then, because we brought our own real live clown (she actually has a clown degree) we had a balloon hat party at dinner...which had the whole cafeteria laughing with us. We even had hats on the ultra stiff group from Jakarta wearing balloon hats! They did not want to smile because I dont think they really know how but we got them to...It was great! Bye for now...Shalom! P.S....Emily, Brandon & James we miss you to Heaven and back!
