Getting into the Aloha Spirit - holiday planning !

So, here we are, getting into the Aloha spirit...planning our Hawaiian Anniversary celebration...a visit to the 50th State seems to be touching more than one milestone...this will mark our 42nd State visited in the USA, taking us into the final stretch...we will also be ticking off the 15th "Highlight" of USA in the Lonely Planet Guidebook and....and we'd have seen all of USA's famous beaches with this trip....a lot to look forward to...

Been trying to figure out which of the islands to visit...there's this great site I found...its a scorecard tailored to your individual preferences - http://gohawaii.about.com/od/hawaiivacationplanner/a/island_scores.htm   and gives you a customised choice. The islands that were recommended as good fits for us - Oahu & Big Island...are both 'must dos' as its hard to choose between Waikiki Beach & oozing molten lava flows...so we're just going to visit them both....

There's also this fabulous site I found with  wonderful suggestions www.govisithawaii.com  and writer Sheila gives some really good tips and answers your queries ASAP..its really great so go check it out before you visit!

Talk about this trip (7)
Very good snorkeling at Shark's Cove on the North Shore. Plenty of fish to see, very calm and less people than Hanauma Bay.

we will be experiencing The Big Island and Kauai from 6/16/2009 to 6/30/2009 staying a week at each place. We have rented houses at both places so won't be doing the resort thing. Any suggestions as where to begin first? We are both fit and active and not a touristy personality
by any stretch.

Buy the Ultimate Guides to Oahu, or Maui, or Big Island, or Kauai. They don't get paid to endorse sites. They actually go there and give you the must sees, as well as the avoid, not worth the time or money. Stick to the Windward side of Oahu and you will see the most beautiful beaches in the world and no crowds.
