Dinner or Supper Banquet?
We were fortunate enough to be invited to a formal party while in Hong Kong. That was when I learned a unique culture of hosting a banquet there. A banquet is usually preceeded by a socializing period that starts from around 4 pm and lasts until around 8 pm. People usually play mahjong or just chat. At around 8:30 pm, people are finally seated at their respective banquet tables. At the party, the first dish showed up at our table at 8:45 pm. The last dish, in our case, made its entry at around 10:30ish. We attended this party on the second night we were in Hong Kong, and I still experienced a heavy dose of jetlag. Needless to say, I almost fell asleep while waiting for the food. What an eye opening experience...
HongKong Disneyland
Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel rocks!!! I don't know about the park, and I've heard that it's smaller than any other Disney park, but the hotel rocks!!! They really spare no costs on erring to the extravagant side. The chandelier, live musics, ... lovely!
We also went for the buffet. The cost was about 50 USD per person. The food quality was pretty good. The Alaskan crab did not taste like it was just out of the freezer, and it was cut in half along its length for easier de-shelling. Nevertheless, I have to admit that it was a bit underwhelming for the price. I guess they need to charge a lot to have those Disney characters to show up in the dining area from time to time.
