My grandmother, aunt, friend Nicole and I are planning a well over due trip to Sanvannh. Just a trip for the girls. I have wanted to go for the longest. We are going for a weekend trip, which I think will be terrific!

One of the main reasons for the trip is to eat at The Lady and Son's restaurant. I hope that the food is only as good as it looks on TV. All the talk about eating there making me very hungry ...!

I'm looking forward to seeing the old houses in the area and visiting some of them. Old timey masions and homes are my favorite kind of history. The stories about the homes and the families that live/or lived in them are very exciting and intriguing to me.

I will write more later when we decide on some more trip planning.

Updates

We have changed the day of departure. Nicole and I will be leaving from work on 12:00 noon on April 24th and heading over to my aunt's house and leave from there on our way to Savannah!

We figured that if we leave on Thursday then we could have all day on Friday and Saturday to look around and enjoy our trip more.

My grandmother has been having back problems though. I hope that she is well enough to make the trip. She had an injection into a disc a couple of weeks ago and now she is suppose to have another shot injected into her spine. Hopefully everything will be okay and we can make our trip.

Thu 04/24/08 (day 1)

Well it's one week til the trip now and I'm just as excitied as ever. I CAN'T WAIT!!!

My aunt has found us a place to stay. We are going to be at the Springhill Inn and Suites near the Airport. She called around downtown but couldn't find anywhere close other than $500 a night rooms!!

I want to go to Tybee Island and Savannah for the Labor Day week-end. I really want to go to Paula Deens. I would appreciate any advice on reasonable places to stay and points of interest.

our 1st day, we just drove around and took in some sights and went to River Street and had dinner at Vic's, the 2nd day we went to Tybee Island about 18 miles away and stayed until about 3:30, came back dressed and went to the Pirate House for dinner and took the Ghost tour afterward. Our third day was again a visit to River Street, Juliette Gordon Low House, more sight seeing and a late lunch at Boar's Head and we left at about 2:30. My girls are both 10 and they were entertained the whole time. I strongly suggest a tour, it will take you by some places that really perk your interest, and you can get an idea of what you really want to do the next time you come back, you just can not fit it all in over a weekend!!!!

I live about 2 hrs away from Savannah and it has always been the ultimate get-away. I remember that there is a toy store and an old time candy shop on River Street, they have Coca-Cola in bottles and stuff like that. That would be fun for the kids. Also Tybee Island is a short drive away.

I live about 45 min outside of Savannah in a little town called Beaufort South Carolina and I would say if you go to Savannah you have to go down town to River Street. They have shops and places to eat and the streets are cobble stone. Savannah is a big place so there is alot to see. Forrest Gump was filmed in and around Savannah.
