September 2007
We arrived at the Adams Mark in Buffalo to attend my Dad’s Navel reunion and we combined the trip with going to Niagara Falls with our grandson Zachary (3 ½). This was his first plane ride and first trip away from mom & dad. He was so excited.
Our first day we drove to Lewiston (north of Niagara Falls ) and saw the Niagara
Power Plant, Devil’s Hole, Art park and some really cool bridges. One is the Lewiston - Queenston Bridge (connects Ontario to Lewiston ) & the Skyway Bridge in Buffalo .
The next day we went to Niagara Falls . Zack saw a Great Big Ferris Wheel while
we were on the American side of the Falls, and he really wanted to go on it. Later that day when we were in Canada having dinner at the Skylon Tower he saw the big Ferris Wheel again. After dinner we walked over to what they call the Sky Wheel and we went on it. It was really nice and the views were great. It wasn’t scarry at all as it was totally enclosed and very roomy. It was kind of expensive but worth it when we saw the gleam in our grandson’s eyes.
We also took a walk around the observation deck at the Skylon Tower . It’s a faboulous view of the Falls.
Later that evening (after we got back to our hotel in Buffalo ) we realized that Grandpa Bob forgot the camera at a shop in Canada . L He went back there
to get it and then took a great picture of the SkyWheel at night to show Zackary.
In Canada we saw some Dinosaurs at the Dinosaur Park next to the SkyWheel.
The next day we went to the Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens . There are many varieties of plants to look at and some of the tropical ones are very unique.
There were some really cool dinosaur topiaries at the Botanical Gardens too.
We also went to the Fisher Price Toy Museum in East Aurora , NY . There was a lot for Zack to do at the Toy Museum ! We showed him some of the toys that his daddy played with when he was a little boy. There was also a train that went around the perimeter of the room high up toward the ceiling.
Then we visited Grandpa Bob’s New York property in Orchard Park , NY .
Zack saw 2 deers and a snake. He found walking sticks for everyone too.
Before we returned to the hotel we went to Lake Erie . It’s like an ocean!! Zack compared the shore to his at home and found that it is quite different from his beach. There are many rocks!
The Windmills on the shore were very neat looking too.
Today we went to the Albright-Knox Museum in Buffalo , and to the Buffalo Naval and Military Park .
Zack had lots of fun going on 2 ships and 1 submarine at the Buffalo Naval Park .
There were arrows and lines to follow and Zack lead the way for us.
