Phiuhh... Finally we found some time to go travelling just for the two of us (Me and Wei)...
Actually we plan to go to China for this long holiday, but... there's an accident that make us cancel the trip and we changed to have a short trip to Singapore... ^-^ We decided to have a trip on our own not join in a group as Wei said that Singapore is not so big and he's been there before, and we plan to go there via Batam The challenge was both of us was never go to Batam before... We just depend on my sisters and friends story and our own courage. And we leave the rest to GOD. The adventure was begin.....
We start our trip from Bandung our hometown, we took a flight to Batam with Garuda departed at 12.40 (we bought the ticket from travel agent for Rp. 643.000). We still have to paid the airport tax Rp.30.000. But they delayed the flight... uuhhhhh so miserable waiting in the small airport with nothing to see.. And we're hungry, so we decided to have lunch in a cafetaria, we only buy a bowl of noodle... but it's so expensive for a small portion of noodle... :(
In the cafetaria we met friends, it's Farika and her boyfriend David.. And thanks God... David was going to Singapore too and he took the same flight with us... Wow what a really nice coincidence... So we asked him to guide us... Thanks David... We owed you one... ^-^
Finally our flight departed from Bandung around 14.00. We arrived at Hang Nadim Airport Batam around 16.00 and we took a taxi (one taxi is limited only for 4 person) to Batam Centre. Then we go to Pinguin counter, besides Pinguin there's also another ferry such as Batam Express. They depart every one hour. The ferry was full for the next two hour and finally we have the 19.00 o'clock ferry. We already booked our way back seat for 18 Oct, and we have to reconfirm the seat at 17 Oct. The return ferry cost SIN$ 14.00 and the tax SIN$ 3.00. Then we went to the Immigration counter for paid the Fiskal Rp.500.000. Next to the Immigration is the Check In Counter and for baggage they charged extra cost around Rp.5.000 - Rp.10.000.
After that we went to the mall across the Batam Centre, i've forgot the name. We have dinner there and i buy J.Co Donuts there for a gift to my friend in Singapore who stand as guarantor for the room we've book. After have dinner we went back to Batam Centre and wait for the ferry. When the ferry departed the sky was begin to dark, and it takes about two hour later we can saw the Singapore night's lamp. It's so beautiful... We can see the Merlion too...
Arrived at HarbourFront, the immigration line was so long... There's a lot of Indonesian there, i've met so many familiar face in the plane and ferry. It's a long holiday and people are going to spent their holiday too in Singapore, same like us. But the cost for high season is higher, it can reach twice or third the usual cost. At HarbourFront you can got the Singapore map and other brochures about Singapore for free, but coz of so many tourists, we didn't have any of that... :(
We went downstairs and found VivoCity Mall then we go direct to the MRT Station. David help us to bought the MRT Card and have an MRT map. We paid for $20, the $3 is for the deposit (we can't take it back), the rest can use for the MRT,bus or maybe buy a drink or chocolate from a certain machine. You can add the saldo in any MRT station from the machine or go to the Customer Service. When you back home, you can cash all the saldo in the MRT card except the $3.
But he only accompanied us until Outram Park Station and then we have to go by our own... Uhhh a little bit scary.... ;P When we have to changed the line from North East Line to North South Line. From train to Punggol we have to stop at Dhoby Ghaut interchange and took train to Jurong East, stop at Orchard station, we only wish not to lost in the MRT station coz it's almost midnight. But... God was really with us that day... I met my friend outside the Dhoby Ghaut interchange... Oh i'm so grateful and very happy to met her. Her name is Lani, she knew that we might be not familiar with the MRT station so she waited for us there. Thanks a lot Lani.. And she accompanied us to our room in Orchard. After she went home, we went outside the room and have a midnite walk in the Orchard street. All mall already closed, so we just took a picture and buy orange juice in front of Lucky Plaza.
We plan to go to the Tourist Centre in front of Takasimaya, but it still close, so we took a little walk to nearest Tourist Centre, it's near the Scott Road. We took the Singapore map and other brochures. There's so many kind of brochures, little bit make us headache hehe, but the staff was available for answer all your question.
After discussed where to go and how, we decided to take walk neither with bus or city tour. First we went to MRT station at Orchard, went to Dhoby Ghaut interchange, changed the train and stop at Little India. We took a very short walk at there as not much to see.
Then we went to Mustafa, it's open 24 hours a day and sells good chocolate with cheap price (hm.. i love chocolate) and various goods. But too bad they not sell liquor... Wei asked for chocolate with liquor inside and they said that they're muslim and they don't sell liquor. Too bad, but yeah, it's ok for us. If you're looking for a Singapore's souvenir, you can get it very cheap there.
It's already lunch time, we couldn't find anything there except Karee (Indian's cuisine) and we don't like that. After have a little walk in our way to find the next MRT station we found a small shop which sell Beehoon with meatballs and so many chinesse people ate there. Althogh we understand a little mandarin but we couldn't understand what she's talking about... maybe she used a different dialek... I did'nt know... So we picked from a picture in the wall. We ate Beehoon and meat balls (it contains beehoon~skinny noodle made from rice and 6 pcs big meatbalss with soup, it costs only $ 6.00 and for drink we chose Liang Tea (somekind of sweet tea, it taste good) cost $ 3.00. The Beehoon was very hot and made my stomach so full so i passed 3 meatballs to Wei... hehehe :)
After the energy was back we took a walk again and it's raining... We only bring a cap and left the umbrella at room... 'sigh' a friend already remind us to always bring an umbrella. Arrived at the Farrer Park Station and went to the Bugis station. We went to Bugis Junction, the building is nice and beautiful. Then we went to Bugis Village, the goods was cheaper and it looked like a market with goods like clothes, shoes, bags, fruits and manykind of foods. We tried the taiwan sausages and thailand coconuts (it had a funny shape and taste good, costs $1.50). From Bugis we wanted to go back first, because we're so tired and the bags was so heavy.
Back to room, Wei took a quick nap, took a bath and then started to walk again... Fiuhhh still feel tired and our foot feel so hurt... But did'nt want to be lazy and wasted your time when you are travelling. So we pushed our foot to go to the MRT again and go to Chinatown... but.... it's too late, all the stores began to close. we only bought a pork meat at Lim Chee Guan and had dinner there.
We ordered Singaporean Chilly Crab and Oyster Sauce Baby Kailan (the Crab was so expensive $ 24.00 but it worth the price, its so delicious... hmm yummy till the last bites... hehe :P) and we tried Tiger Beer (the beer is so popular in Singapore, you can find the advertisement everywhere). After took some picture then we went back home... so tired... so full... really tired... want to go bed soon.... zzz zzz....
The third day... woke up at 8.00, took a bath, made instant noodles bought from Bugis Junction and then planned our next destination. We was already made a date with other couple (Nat & David) to go to Sentosa island together. The funny thing was we met at MRT station at the first time we arrived and we're so glad to see each other. The trip to Sentosa would be after lunch so in the morning we wanted to go to the Merlion Park. So took MRT again and went to Raffles Place station. When we went outside the station we're already in the middle of the garden surrounding with tall buildings, it might be office area. Took a picture at the monument of Singapore which we had to wait our turn after some children school with their teacher.
Then we walked to the riverside.. Took picture with real doves and dove statue, walk around the river, took a pic at Cavenaugh Bridge, Fullerton Hotel, asked about the Riverside Tour by boat, then we arrived at Merlion Park.
Waw so big.. and we could see Esplanade Theatre too from there. We had lunch at Lau Pa Sat market around there, where's located at the centre of the business area, many executivies had lunch there... and the place was so full. Wei ate hainan rice with duck and i ate hainan rice with pork, not so delicious but it's ok. For drink we bought Tebu water... so fresh, sweet and yummy...
And then on our way to Harbourfront to meet with Nat & David, i bought a pair of shoes and a skirt.. For your note, the shoes in Singapore is cheaper than in Indonesia, especially if you're fans of Charles & Keith... hihi i buy two pair.. :P
We took cable car to go to Sentosa and guess what... somebody was a high phobia... wakakaka ^-^ Arrived at Sentosa, we went to Merlion, the Merlion here had no water from its mouth, its the different with Merlion at Merlion Park..
O i forgot one thing, there's a Cub (Mini Merlion) at MErlion Park, it's only half of my height. So cute...
Then we walked to the ... hmm looks like a snake garden, cause there's snake statue along the street... little bit scary but still Ok for take a pic... hehe then went down the stairs, what it called i've forgot too, go to the Song of The Sea location, bought ticket for the first show and then went to the Underwater Location. There's also gokart and dolphin and many location but we didn't have so much time.
Took a pic at Siloso Beach. And went back to Song of The Sea location for catch the show. People already make a long queue and although it's raining, they didn't move at all... huhh so cold an wet... Fortunatelly we bring umbrella here... :) They sell raincoat for $ 1.00
The show was delay cause of the rain and we're late to enter the show cause we're waiting for Nat & David... ihiks where r u guys... The show was so great... It's beautiful and so creative people made a show of water, music, people and laser like that.
After the show we took a bus went back to Singapore island. Then Wei and i ate Oyster noodle.. hmm little bit funny taste. and then had supper at Mc.Donald Orchard. Guess what! we could find Apple pie and Apple Juice here.... I really love that.. So i bought more apple pie for tomorrow breakfast.. hehe..
The approximately cost for one meal is $3.00 for ordinary meal, for drink you can choose to have a plastic bottle and drink the water from the wastafel, it's free and drinkable... ^-^
The next day was the shopping day... Wei insisted to find a pair of shoes for himself... hehe :P So we enter one by one all the mall in Orchard Road. There's Lucky Plaza, Tang's, Takasimaya, Paragon, Plaza Singapura, Wisma Atria, Ngee An City, etc. But we're so tired that we had no more mood to have shopping, even Wei prefer to sit and have a quick sleep at Takasimaya when i went around the store hehe :) Hhh poor Wei, he didn't find his dream shoes yet.. So we went outside the mall and bought an ice cream at a man in front of Wisma Atria, only cost $ 1.00. It's delicious and so smooth. We had lunch at Wisma Atria foodcourt, again i eat noodle. When we're have a rest in front of Takasimaya, a little girl came to us and offered us something from Garraway enterprise, and we're listening for their offer in their office in Takasimaya building until 3.00 pm. Waw what a wasting time.. but we got our energy back after sit for 3 hours and enjoy a cup of coffee. The offer was not interest us but luckily Wei got a voucher of $50 to eat at Asia Grand Restaurant. And we met our new friend, Ashraf, Malaysian who works at Singapore.
After shopping at Orchard, we went to Suntec City to see The Fountain of Wealth, The biggest fountain in the world. And Wei was so happy on our way there... cause he found a pair of shoes... and it's had discount too... hehehe :) The fountain was so big... the show was so beautiful too... The show only perform 3 times a day.. at 7,8,9 pm each half an hour. It's free and really relaxing.
And then we went to Esplanade Theatre, look around, took a pic .
After that we went to Clarke Quay the most wanted place in Singapore, a place for hang out, many peoples there. There's a lot of unique cafe and restaurant there. There's Hospital Cafe which interior was the same as real hospital, etc etc.
On the last day... I bought BeeCheng Hiang (pork dried meat, very delicious but expensive, $20 for a pack contain of 20 pcs small pack). Took a look to Brash Basah Complex (you could find the book you want here, cause almost the shop sell different and many kind of book) , Raffless Hotel, Chimjes, and some shopping at Orchard. Had lunch at Asia Grand Restaurant with voucher we had yesterday, they served Chinesse food, it tasted delicious, had a big portion). The food was so much so we had to take it back a half.
After lunch we had to go back, packed the bag, paid the room and went to the HArbourfront for catch the Ferry. But i still can stole time to buy another pair of Charles & Keith shoes and a purse. And bought a slipper for my mom at Vivocity. Thanks God we can catch the Ferry at last minute.. fiuhhh....
Arrived at Batam Centre, took taxi to airport. The taxi have a fixed cost from airport to Batam Centre, Rp.80.000 per one way. Waited for the flight... and again... it's delay... We took Merpati (it's cost Rp.815.000 including dinner box). Waiting so long in a spooky airport, cause the stores almost closed and the restaurants almost closed too.. so we only bought PopMie... ihiks... Wei so happy to find chocolate with liquor in here and it's cheaper that the Duty Free store at Singapore.
We had dinner at plane and we meet a couple who's aged is our parents. They're my bestfriend in highschool parents. She shared a lot of story to us, most of all about her hobby that is the same with us... travelling. And the rest was about life. She was so wise, it's really nice to had a talk with her.
Arrived at Husein, my dad, my mom, my sister, my niece and my lovely dog came to pick us... But.. i still miss Singapore... ^-^ Hope we can visit you again sometime in the future...
And this is Pinky.... hehehe ^-^
Our next trip will be China (Guang Zhou, ShenZhen, Macau) and Hongkong, hope it will be come true, so if anyone have a tips for us, please don't hesitate to tell us and share us your experience there...
