A trip from February 14, 2008 to February 18, 2008, travelling to Tampa, Key West, Cozumel
Hoping for a fun filled, romantic Valentine's Weekend … More
Hoping for a fun filled, romantic Valentine's Weekend trip. We have been on a cruise before and know what to expect from cruising, so now we get to focus on just having fun with each other.
Well, the bags are packed and we are ready to go. All we have left to do is get up, get to the port, and get on the ship!
If you read our posted schedule, you will notice that we decided to drop the Ripley's stop while in Key West so that we will have a little more time with the Pirate Soul museum and time to get to the Southernmost Point and then grab a bite to eat.
As for Mexico, we still have about a half-dozen things listed as potential things to do. When we actually do something though, I promise we will have lots of pictures and we will update what we did to reflect where we went and all.
Well for now, I am going to bed and I can't wait to share out lovely trip with you all when we get back... so for now... BON VOYAGE!!!
We just got back and it was amazing!!! I highly recommend renting bikes in Key West to get around, it was the was to go, very inexpensive and I felt very safe. We saw everything we wanted to see in a few hours and bike traffic moves quicker than the cars. As far as Cozumel we drank pretty heavily and relied on taxi's. We were indecisive at first and wanted to rent a car to explore the island but opted out to explore downtown and Chankanaab (sp?). The taxi to downtown from port 14$ downtown to Chankanaab 11$ back to downtown 11$ back to port 10$ =$46.00 No Dui=priceless The drivers were always interesting and we were BOTH able to absorb all the beautiful scenery! We could have saved 14$ by going to beach first but it was still a blast! One driver even took us to a hidden-away store to get a six pack of beer for 1$ each to take to Chanakanaab (beers were 6 for 20$ with 2 free shots of Tequila or chips and salsa. (the driver didn't charge us extra...he was soooo great!
BTW always price haggle when downtown...i believe it is considered rude not to and the further you go away from the front street the better the deals and Cozumel is very safe. We got a beautiful pendant that I had my eye on we talked the guy down from 95$ to 20$!
This trip was AMAZING my only complaint is the time in ports is not long enough!! I am already looking at how to go back to Cozumel and stay lots longer!!!
I am glad to have helped convince you. I was supposed to go back a weeks ago, but I didn't get to. I would recommend it to ANYONE... I loved it and can't wait to go back. I wish you guys well and have fun :)
Me and my future husband are planning to take a cruise, real soon to Cozumel,Mexico.I have never been on one,so im very execited to go.Were leaving in June aronud our birthdays. So from reading about your experince it is worth going there.
Just the same things that I said above. Rent a Jeep, explorer on your own, and if you want to do something... DO IT... Don't leave not doing something that you wanted to... you will regret that.
It is a vacation... treat it like one and just cut loose and have fun.
I plan on taking this trip Spring Break week with my husband. Not sure what there is to do. I will be leaving from the Port of Houston and I am not sure how long we will be staying in Cozumel. Probably a couple of hours since its only a 5 day trip on the cruise. Any thoughts? Ideas for making this trip a great one!
It was fine. Key West was still very much shorts and T-Shirts (as you can see from the photos) and Mexico was much of the same. Only bring something small as a coat for when you are in Tampa as it may or may not be a bit chilled, but still nothing COLD.
