Pre Cruise
My girlfriend and I are going to take a Valentine's Day cruise to Mexico. I have never been to Mexico, but in order for me to get my BA, I had to take a Spanish class, so now seems like a good time to see if I will be able to remember anything I learned or not.
Typical Tampa thunderstorms are causing problems right now and making us desire more and more to take a vacation. We both know what to expect from taking a cruise, but this time I plan to get off the boat a little more and explorer my horizons. If I learned anything from my last cruise, DO ALL THAT YOU CAN! Being on the boat is nice, but a true vacation for me is not relaxing and doing nothing (I could do that for free at home). The real vacation that I want is to be able to do something that I wouldn't be able to do at home.
Our first stop is going to be in Key West, Florida. I have been almost EVERYWHERE in my home state of Florida, but I have not been to Key West. I am excited about this trip. I have now been on a cruise before and I don't have to worry about timing issues or simple boat things, so instead, I am going to worry about treating myself right and live it up while I am no longer at home.
Waiting on a 4gb memory card for my camera, so we are both preparing for a great trip. We will have lots of pictures and even more memories.
Don't worry about getting lost, It's all part of the adventure. Just plan to be back on the boat an hour or two before it leaves and you'll have plenty of time to make it back, do some last second shopping or sight seeing and time to shower and get ready for dinner.
thank you for writing me back. i just have a few more questions. first, when we are stopped at the ports will it be hard to find my way around? do i need a map or something? i just wouldn't want to get lost and then miss the ship. also, how do you book excursions? and how do you know which ones are available? lastly, you said the tipping schedule would be in my information but i booked through travelocity. was i supposed to get some sort of packet with information? who did you book your cruise with? sorry if i have a lot of questions. thank you
As far as money goes. Make sure you bring enough to tip the servers and stateroom attendant. The tipping schedule will be in your information. Other than that... Only what you think you'll spend in the casino or on souvenirs.
Travelers Cheques are not an essential part of it either. I did that once and won't ever again on a cruise. :)
Take lots of pictures, and don't be afraid to gamble a little on the ship. Most importantly, have fun and don't over-pack. (You'll need room for all of your gifts/souvenirs.)
she has been planning this for a whole year now.
we've never been on a crusie. i've never been on a boat before to be honest.
what could you tell me about how to be prepared for the trip bein that you've been twice.
i saw your pics and they are very nice.
hope i don't get sea sick.
also question about the cruise itself, was there enough to do on the boat?
