Anniversary

We arrived in Westport, at our hotel, The Quarterage Hotel.  What a GREAT hotel!  It has new owners who have remodeled it "green"- environmentally safe cleaning chemicals, wonderful feather-top beds, tech savey rooms (you can play your iPod with the clock/radio), plasma (or LCD) tv.  One of the owners was at the front deck and recommended a lot of things for us to do.  They even have a shuttle driver so you don't have to navigate KC at night!  We walked around Westport, tried a couple of restuarants (drinks at one, dinner at another).  The next day, after a pretty good breakfast at the hotel (they have excellent coffee as well- fresh ground-  we went to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.  It opened at 10am and we stayed until almost 3pm.  Lunch was at the museum cafe, which is in an open courtyard.  Tasted good, reasonably priced.  We then headed to The Plaza for shopping and the  lights.  Dinner was at Houston's on The Plaza (make reservations or you'll have to wait).  Dinner was good but expensive.  After dinner, we went back to the hotel for a quiet evening- we were pretty tired!  The next morning, we had breakfast at the hotel and headed home.  Some things we would do differently would be to go to one (or more) of the many blues/jazz lounges, have the breakfast buffet at Figlio's on The Plaza, and visit Crown Center.  Overall, it was a great weekend get-away and we will probably go for our anniversary again next year!
