New Journal Entry

Day 1- Saturday

We booked the Dreamscape Cabin through CabinsUSA in Gatlinburg and split the cabin with another couple. We arrived in Gatlinburg around 7:00pm, checked in at the rental office, which is by light 10. Then, realizing that after the long trip from Florida , the last thing we wanted to do was grocery shop. We had some basic supplies and groceries that we had brought with us for Sunday's breakfast, so we decided to stop for dinner then go up to then cabin. We stopped at the first restaurant we came to, which ended up being Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant. It was about 730pm at this point, and we walked into the restaurant with no waiting. We were greeted immediately, seated right away, and were one of maybe four couples there. We had fabulous service and the meals ran about $13, but came with fantastic amounts of food.  Everything there was good, home cooked, southern food. Each of us ordered a different type of food and then passed it around and there was nothing that wasn't worth the money. Afterwards, we went through Gatlinburg, which was lit up beautifully for Christmas, in order to get to the cabin.  The cabin was everything the website said that it would be and was immaculate to boot. The beds were comfortable; there were extra linens for each bedroom, and lots of really good pillows. There was a full kitchen that was kind of meagerly stocked as far as pots and pans went, and the cabin itself was just gorgeous. Unfortunately, it was dark out at this point and we couldn't see the beautiful view that would await us in the morning.

Talk about this trip (10)
The best place to eat breakfast in Gatlinburg is the Log Cabin Pancake house on Airport Road (traffic light #8). There is no comparison....their French Toast Royale is out of this world! Try it next time you're here...

Back in 85 i lived in Morristown and worked in Gatlinburg on the ariel Tramway (yes its high but the scenery is out of this world). Any way, I moved back to Ohio in 87 and have been back there a couple of times. I thought I was Gatlinburged out till i read your journal. I forgot how beautiful it really is and definetly havent tried the restaurants you mentioned.
My wife and I are going there in March for our 2nd anniversary. Although im not able to walk very far, Im thinking i can Improvised just this time to check out the sites as an actual person there to relax and try things.
Thanks again for posting this, it makes my future trip REALLY worth looking forward to.

My family and me go to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge 2 times a year. We absolutely loveit. I talked to a lady the other day and she said they went to the beach last year, and she wished that they went to Gatlinburg instead.
We always rent a cabin at Christmas time, and our son and his wife fly in from Japan and we spend 5 days there. The cabins, use different ones, have been wonderful and we have such a wonderful time. I cook breakfast in while all is sleeping and they get up bragging of the aroma of the food going thru the cabin. Said they can even smell it upstairs. I would suggest Black Bear Jamboree, Smith Family Show, all of them are good. I haven't found anything that I haven't enjoyed.
Worth the trip from WV and do not have enough time to do all the things we like to do.

Have been going to Gatlinburg all my life am now 58 yrs old. This past year deceided to buy a cabin there and I now wonder why it took so long. I would also suggest you take the trip accross the mountains to north carolina. In Gatlinburg there is the motor nature trail it will take about an hour to go a few miles well worth the trip. Also if looking for a cabin mine is at heartland rentals name is the call of the wild.
