FANTASTIC TIME!

My boyfriend and I went on this trip in September'05. We only spent 6 days in Cancun, but that time was amazing! We booked this trip with a travel agency in Boston. The price was unbelievable - $960 per person for the airfare, food, and accomodation. Here's a tip: if you want to have a great time for a reasonable price, go to Mexico.

Tourist business is very well-organized in this country. When we arrived to the airport in Cancun, there was an agent waiting for us and a few other people. He took us to our taxi.  The taxi driver did not speak a word of English, so I suggest you master some Spanish before you go. Also, don't forget to give your driver a little tip. We dropped off all the other people and headed to our hotel, Riu Tequila! Another tip: book only a 5 to 6-star hotel, because chances are it won't live up to your expectations :-))))  Ours was a 5-star all-inclusive resort that had two restaurants, a bar, and a pool with a smim-up bar. The beach was only a short distance away, and you could wait for a golf cart to pick you up and bring you there if you were too lazy to walk. By the way, there was another resort, a 6-star one, part of the same chain, right next door. We were allowed to eat, drink, and hang out there "for free" too!

The crowd at the hotel was almost entirely European - a lot of Brits, Germans, a few people from Spain. It was really cool because both my boyfriend and I are Eastern European, so it was a nice change. Not to mention topless tanning at the pool... :-))

The staff at the resort was SOOOOO nice and SOOOOOOOO hardworking!!!! Many of them were Mayan - dark, short, and extremely animated. You should see the way every restaurant meal  was set up! There were ice statues, carved watermelons, etc.!!!! And the quality of food was fantastic!!!  The only drawback of an all-inclusive resort - all drinks are made of the local liquor, so most of the time the cocktails were somewhat watery :-(((

Throughout the day animators worked hard teaching salsa, volleyball, and yoga (on the beach!), and they  staged a show every night  as well. TO BE CONTINUED...
