We started the day with a relaxing train ride down to sunny San Diego...truly a great way to get down there. After the painful process of getting picked up by the rental car company (hint...avoid the hotel circle Budget office) we were on our way.
First stop was Seaport Village for lunch and some light shopping. From there we were off for a drive over the Coronado Bridge and a trip to the hotel to poke around. Sadly no ghost sightings.
We checked into the hotel and took a short break to nap and freshen up. Soon we were off to dinner in the Gaslamp district. Margaritas and mexican food at La Fiesta made for a pleasant evening.
After a short drive along Shelter Island we were ready to call it a night.
The morning began with a great breakfast at the Lodge at Torrey Pines. It was a quiet hotel cafe right on the golf course. Beautiful setting. We took a brief walk around the hotel grounds before we headed down to the La Jolla shore. The whole weekend we were blessed with great parking karma and La Jolla was no different. We lucked into a spot immediately and spent a bit of time watching the swimmers, kayakers, birds and sea lions play. It was a beautiful morning.
When we had enough sea air, we headed over to Old Town to walk around a bit and shop. All to soon it was time to catch the train home.
