We're off!
Monday we woke late in the morning and began packing. Among the things we ultimately forgot: my toothbrush & face wash, my husband's jacket, and the DS Lite games that we actually wanted to play :P We got to the airport with little to no fuss, went through the seemingly pointless searches & screenings which included removing our shoes, and then we were at our gate waiting to board.

ImageDid I ever mention I'd never been on a plane? Yeah, this was momentous indeed. We boarded, along with entirely too many children, and took our two seats by the window.  Being by the window was important to me, and I didn't close that shade until a stewardess insisted in order to let the other passengers get a bit of sleep. Take off was easy, though not unexciting, and I felt I'd leapt over a tremendous hurdle by having officially stayed conscious through my first take off!  Shortly after takeoff, we were given a snack and a drink - picture below. I'd never seen Diet Coke in a can like this one before, only vegetable juice, so I thought to mark the occasion.

The rest of the flight was pretty uneventful, though I won’t forget it anytime soon :) We were given two full meals, a dinner and a breakfast, and I may just be easy to please - but they were good! The bad parts of the trip was that I couldn't sleep to save my life, the many children who boarded seemed incapable of doing anything other than crying, and I was uncomfortable due to my already prevalent knee pain. But after ten hours - we were there - landing in Dublin at 11am GST, the next morning.Image
