Other Journals * Boston * Seattle Overview
This was our second trip we've taken since I started working in the airline industry, so we are doing alot of travelling. Unlike our Boston trip , this trip was more for some rest and relaxation. We didn't lay out as many things to do. However, we are trying to travel to as many places as possible; therefore we are trying to do all our trips as financially efficient as possible. If you're looking for luxury, our journals may not help you.
Day 1
This was our travel day. We arrived in San Juan at about 2:00 pm. We went directly over to get our car rental from Advantage. It was a pretty good deal. We booked both our car and hotel through Expedia and were able to get our car for $77 for the entire trip (4 days, 3 nights). They had a free shuttle that picked us up and really had no problems checking it out.
We then headed to our hotel, the Golden Sands Villas, in Dorado. This is about 25 minutes from the airport, but well worth the drive. We looked at a number of hotels in the San Juan / Old San Juan area and while they were all nice, they weren't up the standard of this hotel. The picture shown on the right was taken from our balcony. We found it on Expedia for $98 per night. It is located in a gated-community and is part hotel / part timeshare. The great part was that we spent the 90 minutes the next day at the timeshare presentation and received a voucher for 3 days, 2 nights at a future time. So for just under $300 dollars, we're going to end up getting 7 days, 5 nights at a resort hotel. It had 3 pools, a very nice hot tub, its own private beach, workout room, etc. Very nice accommodations. The only drawback was the unannounced $7.50 per day to park.
We went to lie out on the beach, but it was close to 5pm and the sun was nearly down, so we spent the rest of the late afternoon getting some groceries and going for dinner. The rest of the evening was spent sitting on our deck, looking out at the amazing view and spending time in the hot tub.
We didn't do an air/hotel special, as I work for the airlines.
As far as the timeshare presentation we went to in PR, it was 90 minutes (closer to an hour) but it got us another few days free hotel. The Golden Sands we stayed at was part timeshare and I would highly recomend it, if you can get there. If you do a search for Golden Sands, should easily be able to find the phone number.
all the areas, the west coast is too cool, surfing, laid back attitude.
Love to hear people from state side that come and appreciate all that
we have to offer. Thanks for the great travel log!
One question: how was the Spanish-English conversation with the locals? I'm hoping I can improve my conversational Spanish, but I also hope I'll still have someone near who can speak English with me too.
