LA by Car
Los Angeles was meant to be seen by car. We are a car city. Forget the bus, forget the metro, just get in a car and get ready to drive. We drive different here, so watch other cars around you. Follow their lead, go with the flow. Be aggressive, but not stupid.
Here's one of my favorite, "LA by Car" days.
Start off your day with a good hearty breakfast at Art's Deli in Studio City on the "Boulevard". It's a classic Jewish deli - whatever you like, they do it well. Take a short stroll along Venture Blvd. Enjoy the boutiques and people watching. You'll notice yourself asking, don't these people have jobs? The answer is yes, but they probably are actors, work at night or have a sugar daddy.
Hope in your car and get ready to roll. Head up Laurel Canyon towards Mulhulland Drive Turn right on Mulhulland and hug the curves of this road while enjoying the scenic views of both the SF Valley the LA Basin. On a good day you'll be able to make out the ocean, on a bad day it'll be a lot of fog.
When you hit the 405, head south to Sunset Blvd. This part of Sunset is no the 'strip' you've heard of, but Westwood / Brentwood. Turn left, head to UCLA's student store. An LA trip is not complete without a UCLA Bruins sweatshirt. Be sure to feed the meter.
Hollywood - Pink's for lunch. Mann's Chinese, Kodak Center, Walk of Fame, watch your wallets.
Head West on Wilshire from Westwood out towards Santa Monica.
