Left Michigan at approx. 2:45 pm. Filled up and hit the toll road (80-90) to pick up 75 by Toledo. Skies were clear when I left, but clouds took over before I got to Toledo. Temp was high 50's, low 60's. Great day for a road trip! But, it was TERRIBLY windy! So I battled the wind until i got onto 75, and then it was pretty much smooth sailing to Cincy. Only rough patch was around Dayton where the road was TERRIBLE! Very rough in spots. Rough to the point where it made the CD player in my vehicle skip! Now THAT'S serious!
My map that I got from the hotel reservation said to take exit 1G (and it had a name with it), well, the actual name of the exit was different from the number, but I did take the right exit, but got messed up at the stop at the end of the off ramp. Got turned around a little, but stopped to compose myself and looked up and there in eyesight was the Ramada. WHEE! Arrival time was approx. 7:30 p.m.
Called Terry and he was almost there. I couldn't check into the hotel because it was in his name and HE had the credit card, so I waited patiently in the parking garage, until he called and said that HE had gotten lost ( he had MapQuest directions) so he was going to be a little later than originally thought. I got directions to the nearest Walgreens (which happened to be about 5 miles away), went and did some quick shopping and got back to the hotel in time for Terry to call and say that he was STILL lost. :-) I put him on the phone with the lady at the front desk of the hotel, she knew right where he was and she navigated him right to the hotel. Don't know what her name was, but THANK YOU to her for doing that!
Now, off to find something to eat... and in Cincy at almost 10:00 p.m, that's a chore! This city is unlike other cities BY FAR. It's almost like being in a small town. 10:00 pm rolls around, and the streets roll up! We managed to find a Steak n' Shake that was open, got some YUMMY grub there, and then back to the hotel to catch some zzz's and get ready for our next great adventure! :-)
