Introduction
Hungary, the new Prague. Many a stag-do is held in Budapest and much fun is had with stories to hold their own in life's highlights with tales of gorgeous women, jacuzzis in clubs and much mischief. But other than women and boozy nights, what is there to do?
Originally I was going to go do a road trip around Croatia, then under the influence of my mate Boner, we were to do a side trip to Budapest for the architecture, history and women (the first two I knew nothing about of course)! Unfortunately with flight constraints and costs of cross border car rental I suggested just doing a road trip around Hungary - surely there's enough to keep a couple of lads occupied? Being a couple of lads of the age where boys are hungry and women are game so to speak, it seemed a perfect plan - a mixture of skirt chasing, sights, culture and food.
Hungary is a beautiful country steeped in a long history and offers a good mixture of fun and culture to keep anyone entertained. There were a few things we discovered along the way and these are:
Check where your airport is and try not to book a non-refundable hotel the first and last night in Budapest, 200km away.
There are loads of spas all around Hungary so if you're into it, get naked, get hot and damn, get sweaty!
Meat is abundant, don't be expecting to diet while on holiday in Hungary.
Wine tends to be of the sweet sort, even the merlot... after 2 tries we stuck to beer.
October is off-peak, some of the big bars/clubs shut, sections of tourist attractions close.
The big motorways are lovely - new and empty.
Suzuki Swifts are cute, easy cars to drive with a top speed of 187km!
These are the random ramblings of a mildly twisted individual, any attempt to pin anything on me will be met with denial.
