The drive from Maryland to Montreal was great until we got past Albany. Then the weather took a turn for the worse. By the time we got to the border, the snow was coming down hard and the roads were icy. It was dark, so I took the wrong exit, of course and ended up in South Shore. After getting directions I got turned around and we were finally there.
I wouldn't stay at Hotel La Residence du Voyageur again. It wasn't horrible, but the place needs work. The floors are uneven and creaky. The bathrooms are poorly designed and we could hear all of the movements of people in the rooms around us. And what they called breakfast was cookies, juice and coffee. Not even worth stopping.
We walked around a little and got used to the cold. We grabbed a sub at Dagwoods, a sandwich place similar to Subway. Homemade chicken noodle soup and sandwiches made for a good light dinner before relaxing in our room and figuring out what to do the next day.
