We stayed two luxurious nights at Angel's Landing Resort (very reasonably priced, plus excellent views in all directions), and visited two wineries and several wonderful restaurants. Also drove back to San Diego by taking the route through Anza Borrego State Park, which was lovely -- and past gorgeous Lake Cuyamaca.

You should check out GreenValley Falls campground there is a trail and you run into the falls in the summer i take my kids there have lunch and then get in the water. My kids love it there.
