All packed up!
With New York being a relatively short drive, and an even shorter flight from home, it's a wonder we don't go more often. But here we are... a long weekend, three days off, and parity with the U.S. dollar. Bring it on!
(Pictures are here!)
All settled in!
People do not take colicky babies to doctors anymore, they just take them straight on airplanes. Or charter buses, or public transit. Actually, colicky babies were a big theme in our 6-hour trip from Toronto to Manhattan.
6:15a - Bus to Buffalo
9:30a - Cab to Buffalo Airport
12:45p - Flight to LaGuardia
1:50p - Subway to Hotel
We (my husband and I,) have a room at Second Home on 2nd street. The room is neat and sparse and looks out onto 2nd St. and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Actually, they look out onto us. (Actually, I guess they don't! Ha ha ha!) While A. crashed out, I went for a quick walk. Oh man, this area is killer. We're barely a 10 minute walk from St. Mark's Place; second hand cds, several restaurants (many are assuringly crowded), a comic store, Andy's Chee Pees, and St. Mark's Bookshop.
When A. comes to, we head to Greenwich Village, grab pizza, then check out the house band at Cafe Wha. When the check arrives for fries and caipirinhas, it's $80.00. We shrug it off, after all, the band was good, we're on vacation, and Canadian cash is on par. And we are stone drunk.
(More on where we went and what we ate, here )
