Whirlwind Hawaii

Bus to BART to SFO. Pretty cheap but kind of a hassle. The flight to Honolulu on Northwest was OK. Stepping out into HNL was a shock. Very hot and humid! We got the generic shuttle bus to our hotel. I would NOT recommend this - it stops at about 20 hotels and takes forever. Ask someone to split a cab instead if you're not driving..

We stayed at the Ohana East. It's a mid-range, no-frills high-rise in a great location just a few blocks from the beach. We were fortunate to have some friends in Honolulu. They took us to a nice little Chinese place outside of Waikiki. It was great to get outside the tourist zone and talk to some locals. After that, we walked around a bit and crashed.
