We picked Adventure Inn for our first (and only) night in San Jose because of the wonderful reviews online and its close proximity to the airport. When the owner learned that we were getting married in Costa Rica he upgraded our room to a jacuzzi suite! We had a group of 20 travelers (varying in age from 6 to 80) and the hotel was perfect for everyone! They set up our Ram Luna Dinner and Shuttles and even managed to secure a nice discount! The staff was so friendly, the hotel was very clean and comfortable and the bar was awesome! They even stored our luggage for a week while we ventured to Montezuma on those small planes with luggage weight limits! The hotel is very close to the airport which was super convenient. This was a perfect spot for our whole group to meet up and we will certainly stay here again on our next trip. We had room #35 and I will be asking for the same room - loved the terrace!
Since we were traveling with a group of 20 people we decided to meet up in San Jose and stay the night before moving on to our next destination. Ram Luna seemed like the perfect place to celebrate our arrival to Costa Rica and we were right! The restaurant is very cool and set up to accommodate large groups of people. The food on the buffet was not the best we had in Costa Rica but it was good. The local wine was not to my liking but they also offered beer. The MC did his best to make our group (and others) feel welcome as he shouted out the places we were all from. There was a little bit of confusion as to whom we were to pay since we came with a package from our hotel that included the shuttles to restaurant. In the midst of the confusion it was hard not to feel like they thought we were trying to rip them off. The dancing and fireworks were a nice touch. The restaurant has spectaculars views of San Jose at night! Make sure you bring a sweater no matter how hot you were that day - we were FREEZING outside! The drive from our hotel was sketchy at best (crazy traffic/long winding roads/accidents).... but an adventure for sure!
For the first part of our trip (13th to 21) the ages will be from 6 years old to 80 years. After the wedding everyone wants to go to Arenal. After Arenal will be our Honey Moon.
Are there any recommendations/feedback to the places I have already chosen .... keeping in mind budget and the age of the travelers?
Would you rent a car leaving San Jose Airport to Arenal.... or hire a driver? Will we need a car with the activities I have chosen? Will we want to drive around Arenal? I am assuming 4X4 is the way to go?
Also.... if you had a solid week after Montezuma and Arenal for your Honeymoon.... Where would you go? Romance in mind - and we dont need fancy to be happy....
You're gonna have sooo much fun!!!!
This trip looks amazing! I am so thrilled that you are allowing us to be a part of your special time!
